Swansboro is a wonderful School my daughter has special needs and they take very good care of her

My child is in fourth grade and still is behind on reading and writing. Teachers would rather complain too me rather than do the program step by step one on one with my son to make sure he is getting the attention and help he needs in class. My child has adhd a written letter by my childs doctor on file and somehow they have no idea or awareness of my childs disorder? They are very neglectful about my childs education and progress and yet alone the program my child is under and only giving a damn about up to par students in class.. they would rather watch my child fail then help because its so hard for a teacher to take their time on a subject before moving on leaving my child confused . Then to too top it off making fun of and humiliating my child infront of fellow classmates. Seems too me theres no profession in that area for students that have disabilities and disorders. If they cared about their students academic success and progression why is my child soo behind like this? Im angry that a principal cant even return a call so we can discuss things properly but would rather get ahold of my childs teacher to contact me ? Thats just so bizarre and avoidant of them. I feel like im being gaslit by a school that knows they’re failing my child. I didnt ask my childs teacher to be involved, I asked for the principal directly.

My son is in 1st grad and 3times since starting Kindergarten , that I know of he’s been harmed or attacked and I didn’t know until days later. First incident he was riding the bus as a kindergarten and bigger kids attacked him. The second time his knees were skinless from falling from running on sidewalk(he told me) from bus, no note no update. The most recent time (2weeks ago) a parent text me and informed me she was sorry her son hurt my son , I was confused because the school never informed me of any incident and my son went to bed early the night prior so we didn’t talk about his day. Well I asked him later that day once parent informed me and she was right, her son threw a chair at my kid and when speaking to the Principal she stated nothing happened, to it didn’t touch him, to days later, confirmed it barely touched him. Smh. Very disheartening to know my child is not safe at school and without being connected to the community and keeping in touch with parents I would’ve never known because as a kid sometimes you forget and in our case he didn’t want me upset , he said.

This is the private school for people who never expected to choose private school. It is so welcoming, warm, progressive, and low-key with actual racial and socioeconomic diversity. My son has flourished here and two weeks into summer break is already talking about when he can go back to school. He came to kindergarten feeling anxious and not completely comfortable socially and is now thriving in every way imaginable. The outdoor education is an amazing bonus. We love Good Shepherd so much.

Poor communication from administration. Forbidden from talking to the teachers directly unless it’s during a twice a year parent teacher conference. Too much staff rotation during naps and poor record keeping. The owner of the school, Anita, said she doesn’t take action on parent feedback because she has no problem keeping students at the school. No transparency into how your vigils is doing at the school. Any concerns are brushed off as it being a “transitional time period” for your child. You are not allowed to directly talk to the teachers for SIX weeks and then only with Administration present and only during that meeting another parent teacher conference. No one at pick up or drop off at the gate know the Primary children (ages 3-5 years old). Unfortunately if your child is too young to communicate well you won’t know what is happening.
