This school has been absolutely wonderful for our kids! The multi- blue ribbon award music department has the best band teacher! We were constantly amazed at the level he was able to teach these students to play, and love music.

Posted by a parent on 12/4/2022In many ways, Freedom is a good school. They approved an IEP for our son and worked with him to improve his reading. The teachers are also very good. The only problem I have is they do not allow backpacks. They can take them to school and then have to leave them in their lockers. So where does a boy
Posted by a parent on 10/18/2015We have three kids and have been involved in this school for 4 years now. The teachers, counselors and Administration are just terrific. The music department is excellent and they are top notch in athletics too. Couldn't ask for a better middle school.
Posted by a parent on 8/6/2014This school has the most awesome music department! Each grade has a Band, Orchestra, and Choir! In my son's 8th grade, the band had 8 trumpets! The Orchestra had 10 violins! The music teachers are phenomenal! They have had six years of superior ratings for the state assessments. The National Junior

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSomething I always ask other parents to keep in mind when reading school reviews is that, just like businesses, those who are unhappiest will always post about that. It is valid, and understandable.However, both of my girls have had wonderful experiences at Smith Station. I am involved, communicate with their teachers regularly, and volunteer where I can (around my full-time job). I've found when we invest as parents, schools will do the same! Their general education and encore teachers are passionate and kind; the administration is responsive; there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with the school community! During the summer I see their teachers at local swim meets and art shows to support students, even in their off-time.I encourage any parents on the fence to contact the school and not just base it on a few outliers in comments online.
