Read what parents are saying about Colonial Heights High SchoolCHHS was a great school. In the school year 1999/2000, the senior of the month committee failed to award the 4th in the Class of 2000 with any senior of the month award. While he was no sports star, he was a member of both the basketball and baseball teams. He was awarded the year 2000 Male Scholar Athlete Award. He also was awarded the year 2000 Male Athlete Award. My suspicion is that the lack of senior of the month honors provided fertile ground for the student's cancellation and defamation by the law firm Stuart & Branigin. The student (Andrew) had scored 170 on a proctored LSAT as a graduate student at Purdue University. That score was a bit high compared to the entry scores of the majority of Stuart & Branigin lawyers. Research it. Buy a US News Graduate School Rankings magazine from the year 2005. The score 170 is currently just above the 97th percentile internationally. My score report listed my 170 as in the 97.8th percentile.#GossipFodderWhile James Burnett is a vice principal at the school, 1 star is the ranking I personally provide. I was shunned as a substitute teacher. I had a perfect behavior record in High School and a perfect behavior record at Liberty University.

Posted by a parent on 2/24/2017If your child is in special education of any kind you must stay on top of what is in your child's IEP and know what is going on. Your child can easily fall threw the cracks of the system if your unaware. When you bring any concerns you have to the principal she may look for any reason to punish your child in school. She is not willing to help when there's an issue. My experience is these people think there better than you and your child. They say they want parent involvement but your involved they don't like that either. Can't wait to move !
Posted by a parent on 9/30/2013We moved here from Georgia and before that our girls went to schools in Yorktown Va. Colonial Heights schools are excellent, small town, but great school system. The grading system really makes the students work for there grades. At first we were concerned about the grade scale, but it has worked out, our senior has excelled and is graduating with an advanced degree. Technical center is great for optional trades. Great teachers and staff
Posted by a parent on 6/1/2012I was dismayed when I heard that at this years ring dance they played rap music to a predominently white population. The comment made upon the return of the young adults who did attend was that, it was alright but the music was awful. More thought needs to go into what messages rap music conveys to the youth of today. Our job as adults in education is to bring our 'youth' up...not show them the way down.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageEttrick Elementary School is such a blessing to our student and the entire community. Every staff member has a heart of gold with true compassion for the children in their care and the families they represent. The beautiful new building has a great design and was well thought out. Teachers at Ettrick are well equipped to meet the unique needs of every child and are models for the best classroom practices in Chesterfield County, VA. My son is receiving a 5-star education, social-emotional learning, pre-engineering STEAM lessons, as well as Music, Art, PE, and Library resources. He enjoys spending recess on any of the 3 new spectacular playgrounds or fenced in blacktop! We love our Ettrick family and are so thankful for everything this school continues to provide my son!!Parent Review2y ago - Lakeview Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth of my children went to Tussing. It is by far the best school they have ever attended. We are a military family and have moved on, but so far no other school comes close to Tussing. Wonderful teachers and Mr. Staples is the best principle I have ever seen.Parent Review5y ago - Restoration Military Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAdverse affect, not strong in education nor professional, the upper school kids are not a good example for the pre-k children. Administration support is great clerical, that is ask a lot of questions and ask for example of recent writings and assignments for pre-k. There is no English teacher in upper school, if you don't mind your child being taught by electronics have at it. Very cheap tuition, you get what you pay for. There are a few with true Christian values.Parent Review6y ago - St. Joseph School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur military family, having moved to Virginia in summer 2022, was blessed to have found a supportive and educational community with SJS, marking our first engagement with Catholic traditions. SJS has been incredibly positive, offering both a welcoming environment and a strong academic foundation for our daughter. The school has been instrumental in our daughter's achievements throughout 4th and 5th grade, including maintaining honors and developing new skills such as playing the ukulele and piano, as well as engaging in innovative art projects. She has been able to improve her physical fitness and sociability by participating in the run club and spirit team. Staff and faculty have considerately made themselves available to problem solve any concerns or dilemmas. Transitioning to a new place can be challenging, especially for military families, so finding a school that provides such care and enrichment is truly valuable. As we prepare for another relocation with the military, we are deeply grateful for the positive influence SJS has had on our daughter’s academic career. We pray our next location offers similar opportunities that SJS has that have contributed to our daughter’s personal growth.Parent Review1mo ago
