Read what parents are saying about Great Bridge High SchoolGot two girls that go here. They love their classes, sports are competitive and plenty of non sports extracurricular activities.
Posted by a parent on 7/20/2022As a military family, the school staff was very helpful. The teachers have been fantastic and the staff has been friendly. I love that my kids know what the administrators look like because the hang out with the kids at lunch and talk to them.
Posted by a parent on 5/12/2022Wonderful school and very supportive staff. Teachers are welcoming, involved, professional and great with students. Loved the ease of communication, professionalism, and care with the IEP process and excellent support staff. We have now had 2 children attend GBHS with very positive experiences.
Posted by a parent on 12/20/2021If your child has any "disability" don't expect for this school to support inclusion. The principal and staff is most unprofessional.
Posted by a parent on 12/14/2021Nearly all students graduate with honors. The school is safe and the staff is friendly, efficient and available to students & parents. The school uses parent portal so you can see your students grades, homework & upcoming tests which is a great tool! The only negatives I can say is 1. the school is crowded. Because of this there are 3 different lunch times. The 3rd. Lunch time is rather late. Students often complain of not enough time to eat, sometimes are unable to find seats and long lunch lines if purchasing. 2. There is some bullying in the school that in my opinion went beyond say the normal teenage gossip. The matter was brought to the attention of her teachers, counselor & vice principal. They did offer support, concern and made allowances for my daughter as to avoid the bullying group. I just feel the students that were bullying weren't reprimanded enough, nor where their parents contacted. This went on for 6 months without a single student of that group being suspended. I found that ridiculous! It affected my child's grades, enthusiasm for school and overall emotional peace. It did finally end when ringleader graduated.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school does not have an inclusive philosophy for children with developmental or intellectual delays. They still use self-contained classrooms as the primary placement. Southeastern happened to be our school district, but many of my daughter’s classmates were bussed in from other schools to attend the self-contained class, further separating those students from their peers by not only being in a separate class but also a different school. My daughter was not challenged in this setting, she was not exposed to the same curriculum as her Gen. Ed. peers, even after I obtained the Gen Ed materials from other parents and videoed her doing the work. We eventually pulled her and placed her in a private school where she is 100% included. While the VA DOE does have a published guidebook for inclusion, this school does not follow it. They have not implemented the practices discussed in the guide book such as a written inclusion policy, development of an inclusion advisory team, or universal design learning. I gave this school 2 stars rather than 1 because I believe the teachers did indeed care about my daughter but were not supported by the policies in place, lack of 1:1 aides, and training on inclusive practices. I blame the admin and district rather than the individual teachers.Parent Review2y ago - A World Of Children

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have NEVER been happier with any other childcare my son has attended. I have had so many issues finding a trustworthy childcare that would look after my son as I would. And FINALLY I have found that and more! I am currently pregnant with my second child and I guarantee he will be attending this childcare as well! Its like dropping your child off with family every day! :)Parent Review7y ago - Mount Lebanon Christian Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went there for most of my life and what I can tell you is when I was there, it felt like I was in a living hell. I was being bullied and when I went to tell the principal he did not do anything because his kid was part of the group but did they care, NO! The main bully did not get in trouble because she was friends with the principals kids. So i became the black sheep of the school and they still continued to bully me. Also they do not care about your mental health. If you say you have anxiety and depression they will tell you that you are not close to God which is not true. These kinds of schools are the reasons that people are straying away from God.Other Review4mo ago - The Goddard School (Chesapeake)
