Read what parents are saying about Washington Liberty High SchoolMy daughter went to WL and then went on to UCLA, where they accepted the 50 college credits she earned through the AP and IB programs. This is an outstanding school. I don't know how great schools came up with a score of 5 out of 10.
Posted by a parent on 9/28/2023I don't know how Great Schools has come to the scoring number that they currently give this high school, but I do know that it is an inaccurate score if it displays anything less than a 9.5 out of 10. I am surprised that they are legally allowed to link with so many online pseudo-realty websites like Redfin, Zillow and the like. Our country's lax regulations on Internet commerce may be the cause. It's high time our officials stop the billionaires grab on public resources and start supporting their constituents and their public schools. As parents, we have been very pleased with the Arlington County Public School system. The parents, teachers, student body, volunteers and some administrators are what continue to keep it such a strong school system. Our kids experience at several schools has proven this to be true.We moved twice in Arlington so our kids experienced two middle schools and two high schools (Gunston, Swanson, Wakefield, Washington Liberty) and all were excellent schools. The International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma Programmes were excellent investments, so I don't understand why these are not listed in the ratings. Perhaps, GreatSchools lack real people doing the actual hard work of researching and left it to lazy artificial intelligence. In summary, don't pay attention to Great Schools and all these other n'e'er-do-wells and come see these schools for yourself. Apparently, our parent reviews aren't factored heavily like they should be.Washington Liberty is an excellent school. Our children have gone on to very successful university programs and now have professional careers far exceeding our expectations.

Posted by a parent on 6/2/2022Both our daughters graduated from W-L. Both were not full IB but did just fine in college. They wanted to each enjoy extra curricular activities while being able to do their homework. Our oldest graduated from out of state private college, and got a job. The youngest went to college info day in her sophomore year, after coming back, enrolled her junior classes to have her transcript college prep ready. The youngest graduated Summa Cum Laude and I don't know how that happened other than she is very organized. Congrats to W-L on their success. Recommend reaching out for help if needed.
Posted by a parent on 6/29/2020Terrific, All three of my girls went to WL and had a terrific experience. They went to great colleges. They were all in the IB program which I do not see mentioned up top in the ratings system at all. In fact totally surprised about the ratings here. This seems totally out of whack and not a valid way to rank any school. I have no idea how you all rank or what credentials your group even has. This looks like a site that is not relevant anymore since this ranking is so far from reality.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe best experience. We are an international family, the school gave us 100% academic and emotional support for our kids since the beginning. The principal is so nice and caring, and the teachers and staff too, they made my kids feel like home and they are always happy to go back to school. They received a high level of education, and the support in English for international students is amazing, my kids made a great progress during this year. I was not wrong to pick Arlington to live. Thank you Glebe Elementary!Parent Review9mo ago - Henry Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe name of this school is now Alice west fleet. It moved here five? or so years ago in to a brand new building and changed its previous name Patrick Henry to Alice West Fleet. I think it is because the name is not changed here that there are no reviews after 2017. My son has been going to this school for just over a year. I find the teachers are good, they are dedicated, experienced, supportive and engaged with parents, at least in our experience. The administrators are also welcoming and responsive to parent inquiries and concerns. However I found they are not strong in addressing kids bullying. Even though, they responded to concerns from a few parents, they didn’t take strong action so the problem was not fully resolved. I am afraid if such problem persist the school is not well equipped to address it decisively. The advanced academics (gifted) program also seems less challenging and engaging to students enrolled in the gifted program. Over all though, the school environment is welcoming and the education is good with a well diverse student community. In fact I feel the 5/10 rating it is given here I doesn’t do it justice.Parent Review4mo ago - Arlington Traditional

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are so impressed with the high output of our children's learning and their overall happiness and pride to be a part of this wonderful community. The entire staff is excellent, including the new principal and assistant principal. There are many aspects to discuss on what makes this a positively unique school, one of them being the truly diverse student population. The method and model works, and I feel incredibly lucky to have my kids attend this school.Parent Review1y ago - Taylor Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son was bullied at this school at the begging of third grade. His teacher was a first year teacher who didn’t have social skill, also had no control over her class and vice principal asked that my son remain in an unsafe environment with daily physical and verbal bullying. I moved my child to a different school and he is now thriving again. I will say while he was at Taylor for 2nd grade his teacher was wonderful and my son loved Taylor. 3rd grade principal changes and teacher changed and we experience nothing but issues from August - November of 2022.Parent Review1y ago - Innovation Elementary School
