My four children ages 13-6 went to Eliman. We love Eliman! To us it was our second home , and our small and cosy community where we met and made friends with many great people. My children were blessed with wonderful teachers who gave them education for life!

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son recently started attending this school and initially tested high enough to be placed in the AAP math class. At first, he was very happy and felt proud that his hard work had paid off. However, he has since shared that the academic pace feels extremely light, almost as if he is taking the year off. There is very little homework, and much of the school day appears to be spent on Chromebooks with limited structure or academic accountability.I am concerned about the quality of math instruction and assessment. The SOL math results appear weak, and the instructional approach does not seem to build a strong mathematical foundation. Previously, when we lived in Florida, my son participated in a Fast Math style program that used structured modules to reinforce mastery and progression. That approach was far more effective and supported long term understanding.Since enrolling here, I have noticed a decline in my son’s academic performance. To compensate, I am supplementing at home with math, reading, and science, but I worry this is not enough to replace consistent, high quality instruction during the school day.I am also concerned about the lack of collaboration with parents. Communication with teachers is slow and often takes several days. There does not appear to be a willingness to work in partnership with families. At our previous school, if my son missed only two questions on an assessment, the test would be sent home so we could review the material together before the next evaluation. That level of feedback and engagement made a meaningful difference.I am genuinely worried about my son’s academic trajectory and believe educational standards, particularly in math, require serious attention in Virginia. I want to work collaboratively with the school to ensure my child is appropriately challenged and supported.Parent Review5mo ago16 Reviews - Columbia Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent of two students at Parklawn Elementary School, I would like to kindly request more attention to the management of school buses and student safety during transportation. I live in Skyline Towers Apartments (5601 Seminary Rd, Falls Church, VA 22041), and I have noticed that when students enter and exit the buses- particularly # PL04, there is often a lack of discipline, overcrowding, and sometimes even five students sitting in one seat. On several occasions, students sometimes stand inside the bus, which raises serious safety concerns. As a concerned parent, I sincerely hope this issue can be prioritized, not only to ensure proper use of the buses but also to protect the safety and comfort of all students. That being said, I would also like to express my gratitude to Parklawn Elementary’s wonderful management and staff. From the smooth registration process with Ms. Doris, to Ms. Khalida’s timely communication with my wife, and the dedication of the great teachers, we truly appreciate the support and care shown to our children.Parent Review8mo ago16 Reviews - Weyanoke Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family has been part of Pinecrest's community for over a decade. Our older son attended Pinecrest from 1st through 6th grade, and our younger son has been there since preschool and is now entering 5th grade. This school and community has played a vibrant role in both of their lives socially emotionally and academically.Pinecrest is unique (in our opinion) due to its emphasis on community. It's a smaller school compared to the big name private schools in the NOVA/DC Metro area, but the environment is warm and welcoming. The teachers really care and know the students as learners and as individuals and they go out of their way to support and engage them. The faculty is positive and communicative, and they get to know the kids well.Class sizes are small, which allows for a high degree of individual attention. The facilities are smaller than other schools in the area, but they are well-maintained and modern/updated. The charm of the campus adds to the school’s character, and care has been taken to ensure spaces are inviting and functional. The Head of School is approachable, and deeply involved in the school community. He is a newer hire who replaced a long-serving and much-loved head of school, and he has stepped into the role with confidence and care. He is an innovative thinker and seems to know every student by name and takes the time to engage with families. His responsiveness and leadership have been especially valuable in recent years as the school has added more students and increased after school learning opportunities.Pinecrest remained open for in-person studies during the pandemic and handled this difficult time with thoughtfulness and grace. Since then, it has continued to grow in size, spirit and stability. It truly feels like a school on the rise. Our family is grateful for the part that Pinecrest has played in our children’s lives and would strongly recommend it to families looking for a nurturing, close-knit academic community.Parent Review10mo ago42 Reviews - Montessori School Of Northern Virginia

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children have attended MSNV and I couldn't recommend it more. Small class sizes, incredibly attentive well-trained teachers, amazing experiences in and outside school grounds. Students are kind and thoughtful, and MSNV pays attention to helping kids become well-rounded and considerate, as well as academically successful. My kids love going to school and have made amazing friends. They absorb information without realizing it and, as a result, love exploring and learning new things. The teachers' passion and excitement for learning and exploring are contagious. We have made lifelong friends in many of the parents we have met through our children.Parent Review1y ago15 Reviews - Springfield Academy
