Read what parents are saying about Cook SchoolI love this school. I have had children attending Cook for the past 10 years. I still have 2 currently attending.
Posted by a parent on 9/11/2018If your child needs a 504, good luck! We struggled through 4 years of the teachers not honoring the basic aspects of the 504. All I heard was that we need to put our child on medication, which they tried to justify by saying they have too many students to try to help just one. New school out of state now that really involves the parents and makes sure the 504 is followed and our child now excels in every subject, without medication. Mr. Clark did improve things but it's still an uphill battle for kids with varying disabilities.
Posted by a parent on 7/23/2016My son has attended Cook for two years now. His Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Strawn, and his current teacher, Mrs. Young, both deserve plenty of praise for their individual attention to their students. Principal Clark is an amazing addition to the school and has worked hard to implement a lot of amazing programs like homework clubs, ballroom dance, and robotics. He knows the students by name, and never fails to listen to my comments or concerns as a parent and PTA member. The only reason I don't give the school five stars is that there are some teachers that seem to be "tired" of their jobs. They don't make as much effort to support extracurricular programs. However, I believe that parent concerns are taken into account at Cook, so I have no qualms about my son continuing his education there.
Posted by a parent on 5/6/2013My son is on his second year at Cook Elementary, I have been impressed with the new principal and all the programs he has brought to the school. The teacher we have had are wonderful and my son is getting a great education. The PTA has a very strong presence and my son comes home from school happy every day. The school has a nice mix of socioeconomic classes which gives it great diversity.
Posted by a parent on 9/5/2012The school was not only less than helpful, but do not involve parents enough. I tried to work on an issue with them and they were unresponsive and unavailable when I showed up.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter attended this school for kindergarten and first grade. In both cases she had excellent teachers who had to manage a lot more students than they should. Regardless, both teachers excelled and provided my student with the extra attention and support she needed. My kiddo is an anxious one, and a quick text or email to the teacher always resulted in the extra attention (sometimes she just needs a hug!) she needed to feel safe, loved, and ready to learn.Academically, my student received everything she needed! Speech therapy, star reading class, and probably one other specialty program I'm not recalling. Would I like more special attention for my student? Yes, but what she received was enough to improve all of her test scores and keep her at grade level despite her unusually stressful home circumstances. Really can't say enough good things about every teacher and faculty member we interacted with here. Big shout outs to Thorne and Gonzalez, both of whom are excellent teachers.Parent Review1y ago - Wasatch School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIn a nutshell I use to go here when I was in 1st-2nd grade, this was time when my family was struggling, and having this school be horrible to me was awful, I didn't make a single friend, it felt unwelcoming, the teachers hated me for little reason, even though I did what was told. Not to mention the fact one of my teachers made me cry, and scolded me for showing normal eight year old behavior, this is just a little bit of what happened, but a cherry on top is the fact that my dad who was simply busy and wasn't thinking about me currently forgot to pick me up, (He is a very loving father and this was the ONLY, and ONLY time he had ever forgot to pick me up after school) After not seeing my dads car I sat down for like, at least two hours, it took two hours until someone in the office, which had an AMAZING view on the bench I was sitting on to finally notice me. But, I hope from than the school has gotten better, thanks for reading my review.Other Review1mo ago - Bravo Arts Academy
