Acton Academy St. George

This school is amazing. It has been a wonderful place for my children to learn and grow. They have helped my kids get the help that they need to be able to learn and grow.

After homeschooling my grandchildren my daughter had some unexpected life changes and had to enroll her four children in main stream school. We worried for months before starting at Sunset Elementary (the younger two go here 1st and 2nd grade) as my 7 year old granddaughter is autistic. We prepped her for months and just prayed everything would go smoothly and she wouldn't loose the momentum we had gained. She was getting better at communicating and looking forward to making friends. What we werent prepared for was the overwhelming support, patience and care given by their SpEd teachers and program entirely. Not only does Maggie have friends/peers that greet her everyday they have managed to make her feel seen, included and just one of the girls. It is very clear to me as a doting Nana when I pick her up from school that this is not your average school. There is another level they take it to when educating our children - its not just the books and homework - its how they make these kids feel!

My stepson just transferred into 1st grade at Paradise Canyon this year and the first week of school he was whipped with a jump rope by another student (which his bio parents weren't notified of by the school, this was shared from my stepson to his mother, who then went to the school & verified & was told the school didn't think it was a big deal), got in a physical altercation with 6+ other students on the playground, and less than a week later got into another altercation started by another student. Mind you, these other students are 2+ years older than my stepson (although he's large for his age). Yesterday, my stepson's aunt asked the school to hold him in the office for 10 min after school as she was running late to pick him up, and she was told that he had to leave on time and he was going to be forced to walk home (which is just down the road, but he's never walked home before). When she got to his house, he wasn't home, and when she called the school they told her, "Oh no, we have him here in the office!". This school is unpredictable, doesn't seem to think that informing parents of physical altercations is important, and doesn't seem to care about the safety of 6 year olds, much less anyone else.

My son was bullied by not only the students but the staff as well. His first grade teacher was the only person that didn't treat him badly. If your child has ADHD ADD ect don't send them here
