Posted by a community member on 3/27/2016I have two kids in Trailside Elementary (next year, three.) Every year we feel like our children have won an education lottery. The school is beautiful, well-maintained, safe, well-lit with natural light all around, spacious, and in beautiful surroundings with incredible views. The principal is incredible. She's always accessible to parents, responds immediately to emails and her door is always open. She's hands on and makes it very clear that her priority is the children. Every teacher my children have had has gone above and beyond. I hear stories of other schools and how teachers or principals are sometimes hit or miss. Not so at Trailside. There is almost no turn over and overall I find the teachers come to school with a great attitude. Academically, my children are doing great. The classwork is challenging and exciting. There are many opportunities for growth in lots of areas that don't exist in other schools, such as Odyssey of the Mind, Battle of the Books, Masterpieces in Art, Missoula Children's Theater, Ukelele and Violin Lessons, to name a few. Trailside school is amazing. We thank our lucky stars that we're zoned for this top notch school.
Posted by a parent on 3/12/2012The French Immersion program is fantastic! Our student will be bi-literate and bi-lingual by 6th grade and take the AP exam in 9th grade. Because our high school will be offering college french courses, he will graduate with 12 college credits. That is a few units short of a French minor. Our principal is fantastic. After meeting with her, my decision was made.

This school boasts an extremely dedicated and talented staff, an extremely experienced and outstanding principal, and an extremely active PTA. The PTA supports numerous extra-curricular programs including musical instruments, science programs, Book Fairs, Free school fun-fairs, and the list goes on and on. I have 2 children that have attended Trailside for a total of 5 years and I have been extremely impressed.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe loooove this school for so many reasons....let me count the ways.1. It's Montessori based. This teaching method has been great for our kids. 2. The teachers are incredible and very experienced. This school boasts one of the lowest teacher to student ratios in the park city area. 3. They teach horseback riding! Amazing! Once a week in the off skiing season, they learn to ride a horse (western style) with a dedicated riding instructor. I'm just jealous I can't join them!4. They teach skiing! They do a 2:1 student to teacher ratio on Fridays when the slopes are open to teach the kids. The kids get fitted for their own set of boots and skis which they are able to use all winter.5. They message and the vibe of this school is all about connections to yourself, to others, and to nature. The leader of the school sings a song about unity in the beginning of each class. I've stayed around to watch the song a couple times and have been blown away by the attention and respect the kids give her. 6. They play...a lot and go on some great field trips. This is great! We always wanted a play based school and we found it. 7. They are learning Spanish. Language is very important to us. One of the teachers is fluent in Spanish so they teach it to the kids. 8. It's small. You get to know all the kids and teachers and everyone is very welcoming. I recommend this school to anyone who wants to belong to a wonderful little community.10. They hike! They have a specific teacher who takes the older kids 5 and up, on extensive hikes to explore nature and be outside. Be still my nature loving heart! So that's it in a nut shell. It's a small cozy school with a ton of heart and loving teachers. Having my kids join this school was one of the highlights of moving to Park City.Parent Review6y ago
