Horrible, would never send my child here

Day by day..........every situation is a learning experience, so we deal with it as we go.

Laziness and too much focus placed on grades as a substitute for an enriching education.

Sadly this school cares about dress code more than our education. They say they're trying to prepare us for the "real world". If thats so, then why aren't they putting as much effort to our education as they are with the dress code. There is not a single thing I like about this school. Teachers quit left and right. Quite a few of my teachers complain about visd. I would never recommend this school. Teachers also seem to lack the ability to teach and discipline their class. P.s. The food has gotten HORRIBLE over the years West has been opened.

VISD is in the early stages of attempting to climb up from being a very poor performing school district. The new campuses are very nice yet the Victoria community and school leadership have a long journey ahead to make meaningful and lasting change to improve the performance and culture of the school to a point where it could be comparable to average public high schools across the nation. Moving in from out of state, two of our children did a full year at West before we pursued different educational options for them. Our general feel was not very good as we investigated the school system before we moved here and our concerns were validated as we experienced; an arrogant attitude when our children's school credits and performance ratings were lowered to "fit" the Texas and VISD rating system (our kids were moved from a significantly higher performing, challenging school system), a negative environment (being generated from the school leadership and some teachers to the students), and unchecked disrespectful behavior in the classroom. In addition, the band program compared to the high quality music programs our children have participated in other schools ..... very disappointing.
