Schultz Elementary School

Our experience at Northampton during the 2023–2024 school year was unfortunately very disappointing. My daughter, who was in 1st grade, had a teacher who consistently treated her poorly and made her feel disliked. There were multiple incidents that raised red flags, but at the time, I second-guessed myself and chose not to speak up.My son, who was in Pre-K, also had a rough experience. Just two weeks into the school year, he was abruptly moved from one teacher to another, and we saw a noticeable change in his behavior and attitude after the switch.Now that we've moved to a new school for 2024–2025 and have seen how supportive and nurturing a school environment should be, I realize I wasn’t wrong in my concerns about Northampton. I wish I had trusted my instincts and been more vocal back then.This experience taught me to be much more observant and involved in my children's school life. Our kids spend so much time in these environments, and no child should feel unwelcome or mistreated by their teacher.We’re now at a school where the staff truly cares, and my kids are genuinely happy, a night-and-day difference. I hope this review helps other parents feel empowered to trust their gut and advocate for their children.

Excellent staff and teachers are fantastic very Good school

As a parent, I am very disappointed in the school for various reasons such as: Teachers: the teachers here had a better start in the beginning of the school year but have failed to continue this work throughout the year. Starting off with the latin teacher. She needs to get in order, and learn how to teach instead of going off of a book. She has not changed since last year, and has held a grudge against the students since last year. As a parent, I am FURIOUS with this behavior since those bad students from last year have already left, and for the grades that she has not updated for 5 weeks. Homework: It is difficult and heartbreaking to watch my child break down every day after school because of the overwhelming amount of work they give the kiddos. This amount of homework has led to a loss of family time and in order to achieve the goals of the kids and of there accomplishments, family time is very important.Principle: The current principle Ms. Makel does NOT know what she is doing or how to run the school. She blames innocent students for stuff that should be discussed with the parents before dragging our kids into it. She takes things WAY TOO far and she needs to get her act together before she loses her job.Overall, this is NOT the place to send your kids to. We will not be returning next year because of these issues and the more that will most likely come. If I could give this 0 star reviews, I would.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have a good experience at the school, especially with two teachers. It’s a shame because there are definitely great teachers on staff, but the ones we had did not seem to understand child psychology. I honestly don’t know how they managed an elementary class—they had very little patience or kindness, which was frustrating, especially since communication between teachers and parents was also poor and should be improved.The pickup process in the extreme heat wasn’t ideal either, and it was sad to see the kids standing outside under such harsh conditions.
