Read what parents are saying about Samuel Clemens High SchoolThis is a terrible school and doesn’t care about students at all!! I called last year and left several messages because my daughter was being bullied only to get a call back several weeks later!! If you have a choice Steele would be a better option.
Posted by a parent on 8/20/2022As an active duty military member PCSing to JBSA I purchased a home in this school district based on past ratings. Those no longer apply. I have a 9th and 12th grader who both attend school here. I frequently hear about how the teachers are detached and disinterested. The special education program is sub-par. Too many students to provide the extra time my child needs. I actually had a teacher tell me she has too many students to help her. They do not have the staffing to follow your child's IEP plan even though during meetings you will be told they are following the plan. My child is failing, "hates" going to school and wants to drop out. The military liaison is MIA- I may get an email from her once in awhile. Even my older senior who gets good grades says this is the worst school she has attended. The area continues to grow and I foresee these problems only getting worse - it is a very impersonal High School. The kicker is I pay over $6K in property taxes that went to this school district!

Posted by a student on 8/21/2018Out of 5 stars I would rate this school 0 stars for for having tons of issues.
Posted by a parent on 5/18/2018As long as you are in a program with a specific end goal (college credit, certificate, extra diploma, etc.) you won't have any problems. However, many on-level of aches don't care about much more than passing STAR tests. A lot of the administration led programs are obvious incentives to improve the school's rating, though many student led programs and those sponsored by interested teachers are very high quality, which promotes student participation. There are many opportunities for student involvement, but staff sometimes seems to forget that students may have obligations outside of school, such as family or work.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal of this school feels she does not have to follow the law concerning safety or treatment of special needs children. There have been multiple complaints lodged against her. When a tenured teacher with 16 years in the district with multiple accolades stood up to her, she had the teacher removed from the school because she felt she could not continue to work with her. The principal compromised her integrity multiple times but was close friends with the district superintendent, so nothing was done. Multiple teachers took jobs in other schools and districts because of her incompetence. She even took school business on Facebook and argued with parents and basically stated people were lying but refused to meet people as a group to discuss. Multiple incidents of “lost” children after school. Don’t send your kids here until she is removed. She refused to follow state directives for special needs children and showed no respect for concerned parents. Intimidation is her tool of choice. Very much a bully. If truth does not support her, she changes her story or makes up new charges, like stepping on the grass or having a secretary say the voice was loud.Other Review5mo ago - Green Valley Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is fantastic. We’ve had a wonderful experience here for my kids for preschool, kinder, and first grade. I don’t know why it doesn’t have a 10/10 rating because it is a meticulously organized and thoughtfully run school full of passionate and kind educators. We’ve had Armstrong, France, Hamilton, and England, and they have taken such good care of my kids and taught them so much and you can tell these women love what they do and all their students. The principal and staff are super motivated and keep parents updated regularly. On the sixth day of school the principal was greeting every student by their first name. I wouldn’t have believed it but when I dropped my kids off I watched her stand there and greet each student and she does that every morning, it’s incredible how loved my children feel. We even did distance learning last year for the pandemic and it was well organized given the circumstances and the teachers were so understanding and flexible, which we really needed. The teaching staff uses an app this year and last year called dojo to communicate with parents, it makes it so easy to stay in touch and message the teachers with questions and concerns and often the teacher sends out pictures of the kids doing activities throughout the day which really reassures me that they are in good hands. My only concerns are really more regarding the school district as a whole, I wish the kids were given more time outside as they only get two 15 minute recesses which is pretty standard nation wide but I would love to see more of a nature focus in the curriculum. Otherwise you can’t do better than this school!Parent Review2y ago - Our Lady of Perpetual Help School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI can’t say enough about how wonderful this school and the teachers/staff are! It is such a loving, welcoming community. They have rigorous academics and assistance for students who may be struggling. There is a large variety of extracurriculars and sports offered as well. Most importantly, your children will be taught in a setting where morals are taught and valued, and they will be allowed to learn about the Catholic faith and have it integrated into their day.Parent Review1y ago
