Read what parents are saying about Veterans Memorial High SchoolGreat curriculum! Teachers are very helpful and I feel they truly care for their students!!
Posted by a parent on 1/18/2024I was a student at this school for four years, and graduated in 2023. In all things I like to weigh the pros and cons. The pros, very clean school, good athletics facilities, and an above average rate of personable kind teachers. The cons- while most of the teachers are kind people, they are very mediocre teachers at best. They’re quite understaffed. For two of my four years in high school I was placed with a substitute teacher in math. Math has always been a subject I struggled in, and being placed with a person who just gave us papers stifled my learning. All you are is a number to staff. The principal is very NPC. She treats students like they are incompetent. Very entitled attitude. The bus situation is a mess, to put it plainly. My sophomore year I rode the bus- and got home everyday at 5:40pm. But my most recent issue, TRANSCRIPTS! If you’re about to graduate, for the love of everything good, make sure they send over your FINALIZED transcript to your college. This institution had never updated my transcript for who knows why? This has put me into a predicament. With all that being said, most public schools will be like this. Lower quality, negligent, and only sees their students as a number. I’m quite jaded by the schooling system. It fails so many people. I wouldn’t say it necessarily failed me, but it definitely has disappointed me.
Posted by a community member on 12/18/2023Three story building with no opening windows. When the AC goes out the classrooms become ovens. Lots of fights in the school. Staff is non responsive to parrents security concerns. My child attended this school in 2020

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTo give one star is all I can do based on the teachers are nice. I am sending my child to learn and as a NEISD school I am so disappointed and so fed up beyond words. The teachers and staff to include principal have really lack luster attitudes towards learning. Nothing is sent home. This is up to the teachers whom I find don’t want to take anything home such as papers to grade. Parents beware, most work is done online on computers. Studies show this screen time should be limited. No work, no spelling tests, no reading logs, basic stuff, nothing is sent home. Teachers here do the minimum. The only focus is the STAR tests. If you are a parent who cares about and wants to be involved in the learning process of your child, send them somewhere else. I thought being a NEISD school would be great but each year the same Ada yards of nothing. I have resulted in teaching my own child on the khanacademy.org. And we wonder why all these studies show our children are steadily declining in academics. I have reached out to the principal and to the superintendent but nothing. I am just one mom who actually wants to be involved in my child’s academics. Don’t send them here to Fox Run. If you don’t care about your child having homework or reading or spelling, and don’t care what grades they make, then this is the school for you. You decide. N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school used to be about community and discipleship of the students. Now the principal focuses on no talking in classes and looking good to the public. He is rude to students and teachers and can be very disrespectful. Most of the teachers are caring, but they are being over-stressed by the amount of work the principal is giving them.Other Review7y ago - Our Lady of Perpetual Help School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI can’t say enough about how wonderful this school and the teachers/staff are! It is such a loving, welcoming community. They have rigorous academics and assistance for students who may be struggling. There is a large variety of extracurriculars and sports offered as well. Most importantly, your children will be taught in a setting where morals are taught and valued, and they will be allowed to learn about the Catholic faith and have it integrated into their day.Parent Review1y ago - Rolling Meadows Elementary School
