Muriel Forbes Elementary School

I have been involved with Jubilee Highland Hills for 3 years. I find the school culture warm and inviting. It is a safe place with friendly and caring teachers. They have 5 administrators, 4 PE Coaches, and over 50 teachers. This school is truly a STEAM school with art, music and tech teachers both at the elementary and middle school level. This is the only charter school that I know of that has a Middle School Orchestra. They have winning sports teams (co-ed Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, etc.)Parents are welcome at the school. They hav excellent family events such as Grandparents Day, Literacy, Math and STEM nights, a fantastic Fall festival and much more. This is the only school that I know of that has a Trauma Therapy Certified animal ( a beautiful Siberian Husky). Come get a free tour and check it out.

Before attending this school my son was reading on a 4th grade level-in 1st grade. He was doing awesome in school and loved going. Now he is failing in reading somehow and doesn't like going. To say the least, I am disappointed and upset. There is NO communication between his teacher and myself-I leave messages, send notes, and all to no avail! My daughter has a great teacher, in 1st grade, and she is still excelling in all areas. But for some reason my sons education is lacking and we are having to pick up the slack with homeschooling him on weekends. I do not like this school and look forward to my children attending a different one in the next school year.

This school is average maby above average academically... It lacks black students as well as black staff/ teachers.( But hey... Thats everywhere in San Antonio) Being 1 of 3 Black Fathers I saw every morning I felt very disrespected dropping off my children from this school.. Out of all the hispanic parents walking the halls taking their kids to their classrooms with out sign in name tags on. The same Hispanic principle felt the need to badger me about not having one every morning. Leaving him speechless each time he questioned me because I pointed out that countless hispanics passed him with out name tags and he greeted them with good mornings. He stopped messing wit me after he knew i wasn't gone get a name tag and my attitude only got worse each time he question me. Another thing if anyone wanted to drop off class snacks ect.. during school they don't let you go to your childs class regaurdless of the verification you show. You can before the morning bell with a name tag but not at all during school... messed up rules... they act like they don't want you to catch them slipping around your kids.

As a parent who does participate, my child and I have had really caring and enriching teachers. I wish that a few of the parents would instill more value on their children, a hand full of students are disrespectful to classmates and teachers. I feel that it is and undue stress and takes away from students who are doing well. Parents need to be involved. Parents should be held asccountable. It is the only way our students will continue positive growth. The staff is doing their part, all parents need to meet them half way, be involved, be accountable and raise the bar at home!

THE SCHOOL PUT MY DAUGHTER ON THE WRONG BUS AND PRINCIPLE DONNA FINCH NEVER APOLOGIZED FOR IT. THE SCHOOL RELEASE MY CHILD TO SOMEONE WHO WAS NOT ON THE LIST AND LAST PRINCIPLE DONNA FINCH GIVES COURTASY TO EMPLOYEES CHILDREN IN THE MORNING BY ALLOWING THEM INSIDE THE SCHOOL BEFORE 7:30 , WHILE OUR KIDS HAVE TO WAIT OUTSIDE THE WALLS OF THE SCHOOL. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL .

St. Margaret Mary Elementary School PROS: Great teachers that have been there for years, it's like a family. I saw a big difference in the education level since leaving public school. LOTS of parent involvement. CONS: Being the school is so small the kids have grown up together. They fight, bullying just like any other school. Little to no discipline.
