The work life balance of the teachers is awful. The fact that they placed a high volume of students that have special needs in a new teachers class room speaks volumes about the principal and the support staff. The fact that this school allowed a 6 year old boy to violate a 6 year old girl twice in the bathroom and he is being defended by the schools acting principle is proof enough that this is the worst school option for your children. They only worry about there needs. Not the childs and fight as hard as they can to not get the help the child needs in school. And they sure do not listen to the parent.
Posted by a community member on 11/27/2016Larkspur ES is truly an exceptional school, with caring teachers and tenure. The new principal, Mr Owens, is spot on! I truly am thrilled my children are at Larkspur! Great things are happening at this school, and I am thankful my children are a part of it.

The only concern is that occasionally my son feels like the teachers don't see other kids being mean to him. My kids are excelling academically and they love and know many members of the school faculty and staff by name. They claim to offer discounted tuition, but in reality you are required to pay an additional $50 every month, and they explicitly tell you how much you must give. It feels less like a voluntary contribution and more like a mandatory fee disguised as charity.What’s even more troubling is the complete lack of privacy. Personal matters are openly discussed and spread around, making it feel like your private business becomes public knowledge. There is no sense of confidentiality or respect.If you are not from San Antonio, and especially if you are a foreigner, do not expect to feel welcomed. Instead of inclusion and compassion—values the church claims to stand for—you are made to feel like an outsider.Overall, this environment is judgmental, unwelcoming, and far from the values a Catholic institution should represent. NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a phenomenal learning environment with teachers who really care about learning and spiritual growth. No it is not the place for students with special needs; they do not have the accommodations. They do have rigorous Bible based curriculum and the atmosphere is Non-Woke. It is a great alternative to other schools if you are looking for something Bible based and different. There are a lot of really nice children here who support one another.
