Read what parents are saying about Gateway Christian SchoolHonestly this school is great for younger children, no question in safety. However, both my husband and I strongly support education and this school lacks it. Most/All teachers that teach are family/friend related and could careless about proper education. Very few have a formal education, and education is not a priority...The high school is all grades combined taught by a... GYM teacher, that's right a GYM TEACHER (isn't exactly the sharpest tool). I left on good terms, do not wish ill of them HOWEVER DO NOT PAY $300+ a month for a school that does not teach or the bare minimum. Also, we went to the principle with our concerns early on and he just denied it and made us feel like we were in the wrong!!!! Again, if you want your child to be homemaker for the rest of their life by all means go ahead.
Posted by a parent on 12/20/2013+ Small school allows all students to participate in various sports & competitions, gaining valuable experience they likely would not receive at a 5A school. - Majority of teachers lack college degrees. Most are sincerely good people, but their credibility as educators is questionable. - Gateway does not value / teach classic literature, philosophy, or modern science. - Gateway offers virtually zero college/career guidance for upperclassmen. - Gateway's curious choice of curriculum (A.C.E. / School of Tomorrow) "teaches" students WHAT to think, rather than HOW to think. It's dated, biased, and sometimes offensive (I was taught that AIDS is God's judgment on homosexuals). Furthermore, A.C.E. fails woefully at preparing students for college due to 1) it's radical structure & 2) it's bizarre points of emphasis. I know from personal experience that many students struggle mightily in college, and few excel academically. As a former student, I would never recommend this school. Perhaps it was once fine institution a decade or two in the past, but one can look no further than the dwindling school enrollment & church attendance to see that Gateway has little or no relevancy today.

Posted by a parent on 6/20/2012My daughter came to Gateway late in the school year, and she just fell in love with the students and Mr. Williams. They made her feel welcome and were always willing to help her. Gateway is a well kept secret with great teacher who really care about the students. Mr. Williams went out of his way to help my daughter and he does this with all his students. The parents are well informed and we know what are children are doing. Christian values are taught and enforced in all the children do. My daughter only wishes that she would have started at Gateway sooner!!
Posted by a parent on 6/8/2011I am a graduate of Gateway. I attended the school since the fourth grade. My heart will always be with the school. The teachers here are absolutely amazing. If you want a teacher to care about and love your child then send them here. If you want your child to get mixed up in the public school system then send them elsewhere. Gateway has given me the foundation to exceed in my career and life. I have only a semester away from earning my bachelors and owe much of my success to the lessons and academics I learned at Gateway. Awesome school!

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFour of my kids attended this school. Two have serious disabilities and the entire staff here went above and beyond to help my children learn and succeed. The teachers here really do care and so do 95 to 98 percent of entire staff. I moved into this district for a better education and it was the best decision I ever made. The principals and assistant principles all help they even help me when I had major health issues. From my oldest at age 22 now to the youngest we saw Mr Allen Retire his replacement and the newest one several years ago all amazing. They did take bulling of all kind very seriously and during the time my kids attended is was a very diverse school we never had any issuesThank you for everything you all did and to your dedication to the students.Parent Review1y ago - Valley Hi Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf I could choose all over again we would have chosen to stay off base and take our chances with another school. Out of the four schools we have dealt with, this one is the worst and is at the bottom of the list. If bullying, harassment, and sexual harassment are a concern for you, do not expect this school to abide by their handbook/policy and do what they say they are going to do. We've experienced many teacher's not taking the time to get to know the students. In kinder our child was reading fluently, and the teacher had no clue. Also beware that many of their teacher's don't utilize the resources in their toolbox to improve as teachers. If your child having a voice and speaking up for themselves is something you teach your children, almost most teachers at this school will discipline a child without having the full story of what happened. If you aren't 'keen' on testing scores for school funds, don't worry, your child could be a straight A student but still 'recommended' to attend tutoring because they tested low. Imagine what that does to child that thought they were doing well in class and trying to explain to them why they need testing. Not an ideal 'most if not all' children will understand. There's also this whole thing with the dress code that feels very 1950s, so there's that. Overall, our experience has been horrible and I don't recommend this school at all based on our personal experience. I do know others that love the school and haven't had any issues.Parent Review1y ago - Five Palms Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTerrible. They do not care about parent concerns and they will threaten you if you try to make a complaint. We have lived in this area our entire lives and now we are moving to Northside ISD just to get out of this terrible district. The whole district is corrupt.Parent Review6y ago - Indian Creek Elementary School
