Read what parents are saying about Bonham AcademyThe school is over populated and traffic is the worse, the school needs to be updated and teachers and staff are so rude, they don’t have a special need class and if your low income they put you on a waiting list and tell you to go to another school, which honestly your child is not on the list
Posted by a parent on 10/6/2023Excellent. Teachers are caring and supportive. My son has excelled at this school.
Posted by a parent on 3/5/2023No respect to only English speaking students Spanish language is dominating even in dual language classes for English only speaking students (is still dominated with Spanish language towards Spanish students ignoring the fact that American English speaking child doesn’t understand teachers conversations with Mexican students)Special education support is a total joke Also bullying is allowed without any consequences The level of the curriculum is another joke no progress, and if you move your child from this school to a better one, you can be sure your student will be the worst-graded student from missing a lot of studies
Posted by a parent on 11/22/2022Bonham Academy is within San Antonio ISD, so it will be limited by the school district's mandates to drill, teach to the test, and to do just the minimum to ensure enrollment and funding. The principal has been at this school for three years and has failed to show leadership and creativity. Her actions are dictated by the district's anxieties and fears, due to its "unacceptable" rating, because of low test scores in the school district overall. It is not a true dual-language school, since there are few actual Spanish-speaking children in each class. So much potential there. Frustrating.
Posted by a parent on 3/10/2012the Dual Language Program is fantastic. My kindergartener is able to speak and read in English and Spanish!

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is very concerning for me and I feel it needs to be investigated kids are not learning here and it's concerning to have a school open and children aren't successful out this school 2 of my 3 kids hated briscoe and couldn't wait to leave the school the teachers are mean and rude they speak to the kids ugly and scream at the younger prek and kinder kids the principle never gets back to parents when they have concerns she seems like she doesn't want to deal with it and believes her staff more then the parents of the children they get mad if you hang around and use the playground the female gym coach is very rude and disrespectful there's alot of concerns and this school should be closed because kids are not successful here it's sad how nothing gets done and alot of parents don't say anything wish more people spoke up this elementary needs to be closed or fire everyone and get all new employees or send them back for them to be retrained cause these staff and principle is a sad representation for SAISDParent Review7mo ago - Douglass El

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal (Derrick Brown) does not care about the kids or the staff. He has forced 9 staff members to quit/transfer/retire since his arrival. What did it cost an already underfunded, underperforming school to have to recruit, hire and train all those replacements due to one mans toxic leadership? He makes kids who get in trouble sit in the front office all day with out having to do any work or learn. Douglass used to have great leaders who genuinely loved teaching and the students alike, and they used to be a TEA recognized school. Now they are unacceptable by TEA standards and have not met federal standards.Parent Review10y ago - Herff Academy

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended Herff Elementary in the 1st and 2nd grades. I remember even at that age how kind and helpful the teachers were. It was a great school. There was a hardware store across the street. It had a candy case. I'd love going there to look at the candy and all of the hardware items they had. It was called People's Hardware. There was a restroom in each class behind the teachers desk. I would hold off going because I was shy and didn't want to face the class as I walked out of the restroom. My teachers name was Mrs Coker. A fine young lady at that time. Sorry for going on but I hear it remains a great school for the kids even today.Other Review10y ago - St John's Lutheran Day School
