Maurine Cain Middle School

The teachers are not very supportive of the students. Children with ADHD struggle because the teachers are not trained on how to teach them. Overall I would not recommend this school.

We have had two children attend this school and think the educators are doing a fantastic job!

Face it, if you are a parent in Rockwall and your kids go through the schools they always say Cain Middle School is terrible and their kid did not enjoy going there- but it’s only for 2 years. It’s been going on for a decade like this. This needs to change! Why can’t we have a great middle school too? The elementary school and high school kids seem to enjoy their tenure there at their schools but hate Cain. Why is this? #1 it’s run down. Cain middle school needs a facelift. The school board needs to appoint funds for upkeep and some much needed revamp of the building. #2 there are teachers who just don’t care about assembling the kids into good behavior and off their phones in class. They’ve essentially “given up” on trying to get kids attention and keep it during class. Lazy and should be replaced. My kids electives are a complete joke and waste of time. #3 there is no retribution for bad behavior. Kids are able to go down the halls and yell profanities at other unsuspecting school kids and shove them into lockers with no penalties. They trash the locker rooms doing Tik Tok challenges, and get into groups and cause trouble. Parents need to be alerted when their kid is acting up in school and deal with their kids. Parents need to constantly check in on their kids about behavior. There are many kids getting away with a lot that the parents don’t know about. Schools can’t do it all. Parents need to parent. However this school is really bad at this point. At this age kids can be a bit crazy as they find their way to adulthood and testosterone, and the school needs leadership to address these issues. My kid hates going to this school. He says all the kids act like cussing 10 year olds. Loud, immature and attention seeking. I’m very worried for my next kid coming through. A very good leader is needed to turn this school around. Because there is no reason it needs to be the place where you have to spend 2 years in hell to get to high school. It seems Rockwall has just let it be as it is. Time for a real change.

Last day of school my son was searched by the Principal when he walked in the boys bathroom. Then he called every student with a backpack to go to the library and searched them. Isn’t the last day of school supposed to be fun and not like a prison. The VP talks bad about parents in front of students, they did not enforce mask wearing, when students complained to parents there was retribution. The Principle told my son not to tell his parents he was harassed and searched. My so. Said his pockets were pulled out and emptied. The Principle told him he does not understand what a search is and he could make him do detentions when he starts high school the next year. Disgusting behavior by these people.
