Riojas Elementary School

It’s a very nice school. Teachers take care of kids and teach them with dedication. I am blessed that my son is going to this school.

When I bought my house here, RL Elementary's rating was 9. In the early of 2025 it became 6! Why?? The headmaster sounds nice but not helpful. The teacher we had looks nice but kid doesn't feel love. The third day of K, when I pick up my kid, he came out stamping on his feet. I asked why, turned out he didn't get his turn to pee before going out to the playground. And at the playground, he asked to pee, the teacher said something like: "u had ur chance"... Anyway, I still hope RL Elementary could be better, the headmaster has to make big changes.

I can't say enough positive things about Highland Park Elementary. We have had a positive experience, and my daughter is performing just above grade level in all areas. She is in third grade and has been at this school since kindergarten.

All our 3 children have gone to Mott Elementary. We had wonderful teachers and they made great friends. Only one of my children had a teacher issue in second grade -- her teacher had a baby and she did not return to work once the license was done. Even with all that uncertainty, the school was able to find good substitute teachers that made the situation easier on the children. We have been with two principals and they were both caring and active. The school is organized and the staff are very prompt and kind. And we cannot say enough good things about the families in this school. So many wonderful parents that teach their children well and make our job easier with our own. Even though the school has people from many different cultures and traditions, we find our children are reinforced on the things we teach from their peers who are being taught the same things at home. I strongly recommend this school to anyone looking for a community seeking to raise good humans.

We just didn't have a good experience. The learning expectations were extremely low, the teachers seemed burned out and no one really seemed to care. My child's classes apparently had loads of interruptions by a few troublemakers. She wasn't learning much, and she was becoming frustrated. We moved.

The worst school we have experienced in Austin so far. The teachers act like providing the smallest amount of individual care is extra work and beyond them. The principal will lie to your face. Instead of lifting my student and providing support, they punished her. Bullying goes unnoticed or ignored. I haven't figured it out, but a fourth grader should not have to experience the anxiety this school creates. As a parent, you will be ignored, controlled, or made to feel like you are nothing or that your opinion does not matter.
