Read what parents are saying about Lamar Elementary SchoolMy son was in pre-k and it is not our district school, however I was very happy with it! He learned so much!
Posted by a parent on 8/8/2019The worst school experience I have ever had.
Posted by a parent on 2/5/2018My daughter went to this school for 2 years, first and second grade. Her first grade teacher helped us and kept in constant communication to help my daughter with her problems but her second grade teacher was horrible. No communication and never bothered to help my daughter. The pick up and drop off system is a nightmare. The classrooms have too many kids. My daughters class had 23 total students for a single teacher. Very rude teachers that yell at the students. I am definitely happy to finally leave this place.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere are several teachers to come and go through this school. My daughter had one of the best years last year. Miss Fuentes and Mrs Couch built her self esteem and let her know she could do ANYTHING she put her mind to. With all the changes in staffing in sixth grade they picked up the slack and still made is a successful year for students. They dealt with billing, fighting and disrupting class. Despite all of that, they still ran effective classrooms. The new principal listened to concerns and put students needs first.Parent Review4y ago - Burnet Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere are some wonderful teachers and some that could be let go. Administrators are kind but not strict enough. I do like their approachability but seem very unorganized in the front office. This campus needs a fresh coat of paint and new flooring! It appears very dingy and dark.Parent Review6y ago - Long Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDo NOT put your children in this school. #1. My son was severely bullied and after taking it all the way to the board of directors, they did nothing. They didn’t even have an anti bully policy in place until we spoke up and put “something” in place (so I’m told) in Dec 2022. #2. Kids are not learning. The majority of teachers there are parents trying to get a discount for their kids. Kids just play on their laptops, do word searches or just mess around in class. Or they spend the class going to the vending machines for snacks or wandering the halls on a “bathroom pass”. I realized how behind my kids were after withdrawing them and seeing how much they needed to catch up. They were only there for a year and a half. That’s all it took for them to get behind as they were ahead before we entered this school. #3. School safety. This should really be listed as #1. The countless doors kept open was disturbing. It’s frightening that they haven’t yet grasped this crucial safety issue. There should be a SINGLE and SECURE point of entry into that school as determined by the countless school safety reports and recommendations. #4. They call themselves a Christian school. Their actions say otherwise. They are great at casting a blind eye to those they choose and targeting others they choose. In the year and a half we were there, I didn’t see a single Bible verse in the hallways or walls as I’ve seen in other Christian schools. Christmas chapel consisted of pagan carols and no mention of Jesus. #5. No school counselors or peer mentors. No emotional or mental health options available to kids. #6. The school is not financially strong. They take massive donations from the oil donors to keep them afloat. There is so much more I can say. As someone who worked there and kids attended there, I want to warn any prospective families and avoid any grief or heartache. My family truly struggled there and we are so relieved to be out of that school. It was a huge waste of money for what we got. Despite an administration change after the event in spring of 22, the culture remained the same. The problem lies with the board of directors who control the show. They can’t be voted in or out and are there vía some process that most have no say in.Parent Review9mo ago - Midland Montessori School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a horrible school. The teachers were not great, the students were rude, the staff let the rich kids get away with a LOT more than the kids who didn’t have as much money.Student Review5y ago
