Achziger Elementary School

The only thing my daughter want is to go to school , but Mesquite ISD is giving me problems after problems , I regret returning to this school district, what a big deception....

If you’re thinking about enrolling your kids to this school PLEASE DONT!! This is the first and last year my kids will attend this school.There’s no communication from the school what so ever!! The teachers are ALWAYS absent, they don’t communicate with the apps they recommend to use or send any kind of papers with information we need to know. For being an elementary school they don’t have much fun either, they don’t take them outside for recess at all maybe twice a week and if you have small children in kinder 3rd 4th 5th grade like I do you know they have a lot of energy and need it, yes learning is important but they are small children that also need to run around. All I had with this school is bad experiences!! My kids also deals with bullying everyday and it’s brought up to them plenty of times and do the teachers do anything about it NO it’s gotten to bad that they don’t want to go to school every because they know they will get hit by their classmates!! Safety after school is also out the window. My son stayed after school for one of their after school activities and pick up time has always been 4:30pm but there’s sometimes they decide to let them out 10 minutes early and they kick them out the premises even if the parent isn’t there AND there’s times I pull up right at 4:30 and there’s not even teachers there watching the kids being picked up THATS SUPER DANGEROUS FOR A SMALL CHILD!! Anyone can just take them. School lunches are also cold and by that I mean there’s time they get hamburgers still frozen and if they speak up about it they just tell them to suck it up, my kids come home starving ( that’s why they take lunches now) The whole staff at this school is just mean to all the kids. My oldest in 5th grade hears and seen when teacher yells at other students including the principal and this isn’t just my son seeing this it also other students. My kids use to love school before coming here now they never want to go to school and I worry about their mental health. I’ve talked to many other parents that feel the exact same way.

This school seems to have a serious lack of resources. The landscape is unkept, untidy and there is nothing attractive. The hedges are full of trash and leaves. The playground is unkept, dirty, old and unsafe. The front entrance walkway floods when it rains, and the children are mandated to walk through the water getting their shoes soaked. The parents are not allowed to go beyond the lobby area which gives an indication the classrooms are probably just as unkept as the landscape. Parents are not allowed to meet the teacher or visit the classroom for new students. This is scary because the parent does not have a clue who the teacher is or what type of environment is setup for teaching. I can almost guess the classrooms are probably overcrowded. My child came home sick the first week of school which gives an indication that the school or teachers are not practicing COVID guidelines. My child also, stated a kid was bullying and the teacher said, "there is nothing I can do about it". I would not recommend this school. This school has taken a major landslide.

We love bj smith! My daughter is in 2nd grade and has gone there sonce prek! We have loved all her teachers so far and mrs goss the principal is awsome! Only down side ive had is the guy PE teacher is definitely not people friendly and my child has complained about him a ton and has told me how he is in class and i definitely dont agree with how he runs things or how he treats the kids.

Our first year at this school we had a great teacher who really cared about our child. Our second year was horrible with his teacher and the lack of accountability.The administration at this school is completely disorganized. There is no accountability and no respect for parents. The only parents who seem to do well with administration are the stay at home parents.This school also lacks security. You can walk through the front door in the middle of the day and no one will stop you. On days were I volunteered to help in the class I was giving a visitor pass by the office without anyone checking my ID or asking who I was. If you plan to pick up your child from school, you do not need to show anything to prove that you are authorized to pick up a child. All you have to do is tell them who you want to pick up.

I love this school! The teachers and principal genuinely care about the students. Mrs. Jennings is my son's teacher this year and I could not ask for a better teacher for him! She pushes my son to do well and is a very caring person.

Administration and staff are kind. However I notice the school only celebrates one culture. The Mexican culture. Although majority of the population of students are mexican/Hispanic. I believe other cultures should be celebrated just as much. Other cultures should be more than just morning announcements just to say they "acknowledged" it. Once all students feel included this will be an amazing school!
