If your child has an ADHD diagnosis, medical needs, or requires a Section 504 plan, please read this review carefully before trusting administration with their safety and education. My experience has shown that when faced with a student experiencing a documented medical or clinical crisis, this administration chooses bureaucratic pride, systemic isolation, and punishment over federal compliance, safety, and basic human empathy. While there are individual teachers who may care, the administrative culture forces a rigid, punitive approach that completely crushes a student's confidence. Instead of recognizing a student's academic strengths, such as a talent for math and working through the impulsivity or executive dysfunction that comes with ADHD, the school uses a child's disability as a weapon against them. If your child struggles, expect them to be labeled a "threat" rather than a student who needs support. Do not expect a 504 plan to protect your child here. We presented clear, undeniable clinical evidence and direct documentation from medical experts detailing our child's medical crisis. During the 504 and manifestation determination review processes, the administration actually conceded that our requested accommodations were completely necessary, valid, and required for his well-being. Yet, they performed administrative backflips to force those supportive, trauma-informed accommodations into a highly punitive, isolated environment. They put paperwork ahead of a child's beating heart. This school abuses the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program system to exile students rather than support them. Furthermore, despite claiming that DAEP is a secure environment necessary for campus safety, the physical execution is entirely noncompliant. The District's "safety" narrative is a hollow excuse to isolate vulnerable children. When a student is in a documented psychological and emotional crisis, a school should be a safe harbor. Instead, this administration circled to protect their disciplinary rulings. The local school board rubber-stamped administrative actions prioritizing institutional pride over a child's mental health. The emotional toll this environment takes on a child is severe. The school does not welcome families as partners; they treat advocating parents as adversaries. When you fight for your child's civil rights, they shut down communication, ignore medical notes, and manipulate internal data.
