My daughter is in 4th Grade and I feel she is very secure in this school.
Posted by a parent on 4/23/2023So far it has been really great experience to send my daughter to Independence Elementary school. We had some reservations before the school year. But one of our neighbors who works as a substitute teacher assured us that based on the her experience the teaching quality at this school is way better
Posted by a parent on 2/3/2018I'm happy that my son is going to Independence. Due to the earlier rating I was little pessimistic- but it was a great decision to send him to Independence. His class teacher is awesome and my son is happy. He improved a lot after starting his schooling at Independence.

The PTA has done great things such as sponsoring a fun run, bringing in assemblies and starting scholarships and grants for teachers and independence alum
Posted by a parent on 9/3/2015I had an awful experience at this school. My child was in special ed here and treated horribly by the administration. The teachers I worked with seemed very fearful of the administrators. They have zero compassion for kids with special needs and my child had many injuries there, some went unexplaine

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kid is new to the school transfer from Polser. Since he has been here, he loves it. We are glad that he has a school that is teaching him new things all across the board. The councilors are also great. They did try to help but still he was not really looked at as capable by teachers. The class teacher at the time was also very cold and lack empathy. He was the youngest in the class and couldn’t read at the level. The pressure on parents to get my kid to read and spell was unreal when the teaching in classroom was so basic. I've had to deal with both the principal and assistant principal several times. The principal is very warm and easy to work with. She's always been kind to both me and my child. I loved most of the teachers i had and really enjoyed my time there. We have had such a positive experience at this school from all aspects: classroom learning, teachers, administrators, speech program, Gifted and Talented program and the PTA is amazing.
