After the TURMOIL and pain this unorganized sorry excuse for a school system... That hires literally anyone with NO EXPERIENCE .IF I could give this place 0 STARS I WOULD

This school is terrible, theres no A/C in the school, I enrolled my son with special needs in May 2025, went to meet the teaching in July and they didnt have my son enrolled, I have to re enroll my son 4 more times, because their explanation was that " they didn't have or lost the enrollment paperwork", they called me this afternoon at 3:50pm saying my son was going to be transferred to another school because of over capacity, if this was an issue before why wasn't this brought up before enrollment, not only that but they also have my special needs son transferring over to another school and needing me to withdraw him the next day and starting the next day also, my son has a sibling in this school and his grandpa picks him up at school when it dismissal time, and has no other transportation, he isnt good with change, so him barely getting use to this school was alot of change. When i tell you DONT HAVE YOUR CHILD ATTEND THIS SCHOOL, I MEAN IT DONT HAVE YOUR CHILD ATTEND SCHOOL. THEY CHARGE THE KIDS FOR EVERYTHING EVEN FOR A FREE DRESS DAY WHICH IS $5, AND YOU WOULD THINK THE MONEY WILL GO TO FIXING THE A/C BUT THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE KIDS.

Will be looking for a different school very soon. It's more than evident people are here to protect their job and reputation, not the children.

They are working through their issues and ultimately you just need to decide if you want your family along for the ride. We had heard mixed reviews about Herod, but when they launched the Pre -K program this year we figured we would give it a shot. Pros:1. VERY involved PTO that cares about the school and wants the best for the students. They are very welcoming and involved. 2. The students do learn things in class. Our child came home the first week telling us their favorite shape was a rhombus! We definitely didn't teach them that. Cons:1. Teachers seem to be treading water. My understanding is that the language immersion teacher was fired the day before school started and they had an aid teaching this class. This meant one less aid helping with the other classes and put the teachers in a real bind. Despite touting their app that made communicating with teachers easy, our teaching did not even have a profile set up in the app until the second week of school and never answered messages on it. 2. This school seems focused on equity at the expense of the educational experience. Our child came home with bruises on their neck and when we inquired about what happened (several messages unanswered and only after we made it clear we would be reaching out to the principal did we get a response) we were told that the class has three students with severe behavioral issues and they essentially couldn't pay attention to what the other children were doing so they had no idea what happened. This was enough for us to pull our child. Upon coming in to complete the withdrawal form not a single admin asked about our experience. Just seemed like business as usual (which I am willing to bet it is). If you have the resources to go somewhere else I would encourage you to do so.

My child attends Halpin ECC. She has been there for 3 years. I wud the school had grade levels up to 5. My child is currently reading, writing, and doing math. Sheets her goals on the tests. She loves going to school every day! They lost their counselor this year but she hasn’t had any issues because of this. We love Halpin! The principal is always available to talk to you. Everyone is nice and supportive.

It was a really bad experience, and even after a year of being away from this institution I still find myself concerned for the students there. The carpool is extremely unsafe. The administration and the only third grade teacher there have extremely troubling practices that my wife tried desperately to have Trafton's board examine, only to find out the eighth grade language arts teacher is on that very board as treasurer and the president is the commissioner of the board that oversees that board. The school also heavily practices nepotism throughout throughout its staff, faculty and administration, which allows many teachers' egos to go unchecked. We have since transferred to a music charter school within HISD, we have experienced zero problems in the conflict / resolution protocols. Even though our child passed literacy exams that were required prior to acceptance, we were informed during the initial tour of the school that Trafton does not under any circumstances accept children with disabilities, simply because they do not have the funds to 'accommodate their special needs.'
