The school counselor and nurse are wonderful.As far as family engagement goes, the school mainly welcomes parents for raising funds and volunteering. Some teachers welcome parent involvement in your child's education. But others do not respond to emails, and worse, the principal almost never responds to emails. My child was there for 6 years and I probably sent less than 5 emails over the years. Between my two children, having attended four Garland ISD schools, this is the only school with principals that ignored almost all attempts from me to communicate with them (whether it was a concern or praise). The one time my concern was not ignored was when my child's bullying on the bus was reported to the district instead of just the school.Like most schools, some of the teachers are amazing, but some seem like they are there for a paycheck and pension. The best part of this school is that it is a magnet for kids who are found to be gifted through certain tests. If you have any experience with these kids, you realize that even though people may think they have it easy, many of these kids have personalities that other kids find socially awkward. It is wonderful that there is a magnet where these kids have an opportunity to work with other kids that may have similar ways of learning and socializing.

Every aspect of this school is simply amazing. Every administrator cares for each and every student- knowing them by name, knowing parents (even in covid), caring for their individual needs from 504/dyslexia and insect allergic reactions. Teachers and staff look for ways to grow each student not just in academics but in life. Two different grades I have seen on the walls something similar to “how to have a good discussion” points such as “I had t thought of it that way”, “have you considered…”, etc. The school teaches respectful behavior code. It awards positive examples and course corrects the negative. The PTA is extremely active and helps provide fun activities for the families in the community but also raises funds for the school- such as buying ipads a few years ago, new playground equipment, etc. The involvement of the community, parents, and school is unparalleled. We attended another elementary before transferring here; we know the difference.

As a graduate of Kimberlin years ago and now a mom of a child who goes there, Kimberlin has always gone above and beyond! My daughter used to dread math but now she loves it and is now excelling in it!! The teachers are amazing!! I’m very thankful for the staff and also the orchestra opportunity my daughter gets to have here at this school. Definitely recommend!!

Our experience at Kimberlin for the past 6 years has been absolutely amazing. We have had incredibly dedicated and highly competent teachers led by an wonderful principal who works tirelessly to ensure staff, parents and kids are happy and receiving the best education possible.

I love this school. The teachers and staff are amazing. They have one of the most active PTAs around which provide and foster a great environment. Our oldest was going here and although its not the closest school or the easiest, we were lucky our 2nd child was accepted. Despite the amount of homework, i believe the school does an amazing job of encouraging and building our children to be contributing members of their community and learn and succeed academically. Best school in GISD hands down!!!
