Read what parents are saying about Rosenberg El Laboratory for Learning and LeadingThis is no longer Kipp Coastal Village. The school is Rosenberg Elementary with new administration and a dynamic teaching team. They are a micro society campus and my children are thriving there. The teachers give a lot of love and support, the campus culture encourages and practices inclusion for all students, and everyone on that campus works together to give students the best opportunities possible. If you haven’t seen a micro society campus in action, it’s adorable! More importantly you can see the impact it has on students. The execution of the program is character building. I love that all student have a job, student voice is valued, and students understand and experience what it means when we teach them that everyone is a valued member in the community. If you are new to Galveston or thinking about sending your student to one of the public schools on the island, schedule a visit, you won’t be disappointed.
Posted by a parent on 6/16/2021My son has attended KCV since Pre-K, he is in the third grade now. As other parents have mentioned, he is happy to go to school everyday and rarely wants to leave. He is performing far about grade level in both math and reading, and that is largely because teachers at KCV are trained to differentiate for their students, allowing them to work at their own level and grow with no restrictions, at their own pace. KCV employs passionate and smart teachers who use research based and innovative curriculum in their classrooms. I only give 4 stars because I am apprehensive about the change from KIPP control to GISD control; I hope that GISD can retain the best teachers and continue on with different and rich curriculum, it does not operate like a GISD school, academically. Also, I noticed a slight change in curriculum direction with the loss of Lynn Barnes. Here's to hoping!
Posted by a parent on 5/13/2014Our daughter is excelling at KIPP Coastal Village. In the first grade , but reading at third grade level and above her grade level in math as well. She loves learning and loves school, and loves her teacher. Our Second child is in PreK 3 and loves her school as well, as well as the after school care at 21 st century. In PreK3 she spells her own name, knows her numbers, shapes, and many other things. We have found the PreK teachers and our child's first grade teacher to be excellent, and both our children have developed bonds with their teachers.
Posted by a parent on 5/3/2014Do you remember that episode of The Simpsons where the family moved to a new town and Bart was placed in the remedial class in his new school? Bart was frustrated that as a fourth grader, the teacher was still teaching the class basic letter sounds. He questioned the teaching method, saying, "Wait, so we're supposed to catch up by going SLOWER than the other classes?!" That scene pretty much sums up our experience with KIPP Coastal Village. Mid-year in first grade, my child who was performing above grade level was chastised in class for being bored with learning the very basics of reading and math every day. My child would dread going to school because she knew her letters and basic addition to 10. She wanted to learn more but was prevented from doing so because the majority of her class did not have basic reading and math skills.
Posted by a parent on 5/2/2014This school is not safe for any child! The principal asked for this information to be kept quiet!!A male,a stranger has been going around hugging and kissing on children.A little girl and along with other children. The principal was informed about this man.The male has two grandchildren who attend KIPP,so this was the principals excuse as to why this man is allowed to enter the school around other children unsupervised and allowed to receive physical contact from children with or without parents knowledge of physical contact.Very bad principal. He is a disgusting poor excuse of a human being for not doing his job to protect our children. The police have been notified. If you want a safe school for your child this is not it!

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey emphasize and promote intensive teaching with competent teachers who promote a culture of learning and development mostly due to the compensation the school receives when the students perform on state tests.. This a positive in every way where all the students and the school benefits...If they didn't have an incentive, this school would perform at average or below standards due to the the area which is economicly disadvantaged and where English is a second language for many if not he majority...I applaud the state for setting the school up this way...it is a win win for all of its students regardless of their background....Parent Review9y ago - East End Preschool

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTo be quite honest, we were really nervous to send our son there. He had never stayed with a non-family member and now we were going to send him to daycare. Let me tell you, we could not be happier. The staff there truly love the kids. I'm constantly in awe of how they're able to manage and keep smiles on their faces. Our son is so spoiled and loved. Since starting EEP, he's really come out of his shell. The school is student focused and family centered. There are opportunities to get to know more families, my son has a great little group of friends, and the staff is so awesome. The hours can be a concern, but we do early drop off and extended day, which means that he's there from 7:45-3pm, which is pretty much a school day. If those hours work for you, DO IT. You definitely won't regret sending your kid(s) there.Parent Review5y ago - Satori School
