Oakmont Elementary School

This school is sadly not a happy,welcoming, warm place! The office staff is very dry, almost cold. You can walk in the office and they will all be sitting there and no one will speak or greet you. There’s no principal or staff motivation for the kids in the morning. No learning help from my kids pre k teacher! She has absolutely no personality, no friendliness, no sense of humor whatsoever! Sadly, the children’s test scores show the lack of motivation and lack of teaching ability from the staff! SAD!

My children have been going to JT Stevens for 5 years and I thoroughly enjoyed them going to school here UNTIL the new principal they got in the 2024-2025 school year. The teachers are lovely and always doing their best to support the students. As a parent to a special education student, I feel they do their best to support my child’s IEP. However, this new principal has zero people skills. She’s rude and has an attitude during any interaction I’ve had with her, which is crazy because I have never had issues with my interactions with school staff as I’m very friendly and understanding. She doesn’t allow students to bring snacks for their birthdays anymore, which is wild. My husband and I will be moving both of our children out of the school district after this year due to her. Would NOT suggest JT Stevens while she is the principal here.

My child has been in this school since kindergarten currently now in 3rd grade. We had issues since the fist day we stared ,the teachers have no communication and no control of un behaved students. I was able to witness this situation during online class. Somehow the same un behave students keep been placed in the same class as my child. My child comes home & mentions the same names of this students always having behavioral issues, bullying & harassment to my child & other class mates. I have spoken to teachers , staff and principals, but nothing has changed! There has been points where my kid cries about assisting this school. I really tried giving this school a chance but there is always one thing or another. There is really rude staff they need more professionalism it seems like they hate the job! I don’t feel comfortable leaving my child around this type of adults I can not imagine how they treat our poor kids if they don’t know how to treat parents. As a parent I do not feel welcome there is no activity where parents are able to assist & come see kids participate or have communication with teachers we basically don’t know what really goes on inside this school ! I really do not recommend this school they need to have some changes done! I am currently looking for another school who has better education & communication. If you really care about your children take some time to find a good school! Woodway is not it!!

This school has so much spirit. From the minute the child enters, it's go time. They have all the activities and sports a kid could want. The curriculum is highly advanced with small classes and amazing teachers. Love and discipline are two of their values. And unlike some posts on here, diversity does exist and there is most definitely a Christ centered approach. They have a Bible lesson everyday and chapel once a week. This is a school for Christians. The scholarships for the senior graduates is impressive. Our daughter absolutely loves it there.

Hazel Harvey Peace is a nice school. Communication is big key! They try to help as much as possible with the parents and students.
