It's a delightful, warm and encouraging place. They walk admirably that difficult terrain of unconditional support without enabling. Your kids can get anywhere from here.

Posted by a parent on 7/18/2018My children have since moved on to middle school and high school, but I miss North Hi mount. We originally transferred there because of serious bullying issues in another school. It was the best educational decision we have made so far. Both of our children flourished in the positive, inclusive and encouraging environment provided by the principal and teachers at this school.
Posted by a parent on 9/1/2017The staff and teachers at this little neighborhood school are very invested in the students' success. Most of the parents are also very involved, which I think lends to the overall academic achievement of the student body. We moved to this neighborhood b/c of its proximity to downtown, but we're staying b/c of the school.
Posted by a parent on 9/29/2015Mr. Koppes, the principal leads a group of fully committed teachers and faculty. The team is devoted to delivering an education to their students that will propel them successfully into middle school. They are focused on being a team that continues to grow as teachers. The students are a charming mix of several cultural backgrounds. My two daughters attend this school and are in 3rd and Kindergarten. We have been so pleased and happy with their teachers. There is a special spark and a wonderful atmosphere at the school.In 2014, North Hi Mount received a Bronze level award by the National Center for Urban Schools Transformation.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe attended SHM all six years and it was the very best experience. Caring, committed staff, and excellent leadership. They have a wonderful principal who was a teacher at this same school, and it attracts the best teachers in the district. Safe and beautiful campus as well. It does not require their teachers to have teaching credentials and the teachers are paid $20 an hour. The school caters to Church members and uses non-members children (who pay double the tuition rate) to subsidize their budget without making them a priority. They do not address bullying unless it is the child of a Church member or a parent threatens to take legal action against the school. There is no support for special needs students and communication between the teachers/administration/parents is erratic. I would strongly discourage any non-Church member from enrolling in the school.Parent Review11mo ago
