School doesn't provide a safe learning environment. Bullying and physical assult is completely overlooked. Law enforcement has to be involved before the school does anything.

Obese hall monitor is lazy and with him passing out gum to students which is not even allowed has just added to the lack of disrespect towards hard working teachers that just want order in the classrooms.

Great teachers & staff my only pet peave would be that hall monitors are very very passive. Maybe a bull horn in the hallways would help control the students. They are very noisy and the fowl language is unfortunately tolerated. Lunches are terrible my student says the free lunches are nasty and the trash cans are full of uneaten food. Teachers are awesome but with so much time wasted on discipline there's little or no time for teaching. Fortunately there is after school tutorials. Overall the school is well designed & just added new hall monitor's. New Principal Phillips within a year has already made positive changes.

My son has done really well in Baxter, I am truly impressed with the professionalism the staff has shown.

Good school. The school is now Baxter Jr. High. Opened in 2010. A lot of positive changes. Overall good school.

The best school I have ever experienced. Often times you won't see teachers leaving the school until 8 at night working on curriculum. The principal is FANTASTIC, she genuinely loves the students and knows most of the students by name. This school goes above and beyond to ensure that each student has supplies to get work done even if the child can't afford them they always ensure that each student has enough. The staff is involved with the families and ensures that Dan Powell is a place where kids can feel safe, and comfortable to try and excel. I don't think anyone could run the school better than Mya Asberry, these kids are getting the absolute best you would not know from the scores, the curriculum or the teachers that this was a title I school. GREAT JOB DAN POWELL!
