Read what parents are saying about T G Terry Elementary SchoolMany of the teachers do their best the limited resources and discipline problems limit what they can actually get done in a day. students were not allowed to bring text books home to study. No weekly plans for learning for the parents so its hard to help your young child study when you dont know when tests are and assignments are due. Maybe because of the area they are not used to much parent involvement. The music teacher is OUTSTANDING and really passionate. Afterschool the kids run out the building and they will tell you that there are teachers outside watching the kids but the only ones I have saw are the smaller kids teachers and most of them wait by the school doors instead of actually walking out to the front schoolyard. There are always stray dogs running around the schoolyard. The children are supposed to have 3 options for school lunch but by the time the last few classes get to lunch many of the options are gone. This happens very often. The school nurse, wow she is VERY rude and condescending. Acts as if its a bother to her to answer questions concerning your child. She has a very bad attitude. The principal is very professional and patienty listens to concerns.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGateway Charter School was ok until this current school year. One teacher ruined my childs entire 1st grade school year. Even after removing him from her class she continued to bully my child. When he was in her class and another student would bother him, he would tell this teacher and she answered him by calling him a tattle tell. Husband and I met with the principle, asst. principal, asst. superintendent and the teacher on several occasions, but nothing has gotten better and my child is still complaining about this particular teacher bothering him even though he is no longer in her class. It's bad enough that children can be sometimes mean to one another but to have a teacher bullying the child is just completely out of line and absurd and will not be tolerated. He ask me everyday, how many days do he have left. So we are basically counting down the days every single day until the last day. I definitely will not be using Gateway as a learning environment for my child ever again due to this teacher and such a terrible experience. Nor will my younger son and niece. I just pray that this whole experience has not ruined how he feels about school and teachers. Let me say it is not every teacher at Gateway, just this particular one. His kindergarten experience was awesome. And to his new 1st grade teacher, thank you for taking my child in when you did.Parent Review6y ago - Birdie Alexander Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThings were good until the last two years (2021-22 and 2022-23). My child and classmates did NOT have any reading comprehension taught to them. The focus was on writing, grammar and spelling. The claim was there wasn’t enough student books. That I don’t understand as parents pay tuition!!!! The Head of School was horrible, unfair and biased. She supported families she liked (i.e. placing students in certain teacher classes per parental request). How she felt about you was always on her face. You could speak to her and her face was twisted like she had eaten a bowl of lemons. Then when another parent came up to her, she would smile and be receptive of them. All while you are standing there. I severely regret keeping my child there this past year. Now we have to double down on reading. If you enroll/stay, be aware of treatment in this “Christian environment” and stay on top of child’s academics, social emotional health and behavior. Good luck! We are out!Parent Review8mo ago - WS Happy Days Christian Academy
