Frederick Douglass Elementary School

The place is horrible as far access to your student and the classroom. Both the smaller and up to 6 grade buildings are DILAPIDATED. The church on pleasant is EXTREMELY in need of REBUILD while the school on Bohannon is riddled in mold mildew and an unstable structure. The bathrooms always back up according to my kids and the TAs are EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL . DISRESPECTFUL AND ARE YELLING AT THEM DURING BREAKFAST and no talking at lunch. The classrooms flood. The ceiling caved in on students. It's just not acceptable and the bullying is ignored . Administration is rude the previous attendance women W AS JUST..... UNACCEPTABLE. And no the teachers are not all STATE CERTIFIED.

This is far the hardest complaint I can write today. I am unhappy with the school morale and such. It is 10/24/24 and the principal has failed to communicate with parent and the needs of the school. There is no empathy on her part at all. There is no PTA as parents refuse to volunteer for the school. The students complain about staff being overwhelmed. They blame the attendance as they get no funding. However leadership fails to provide relief or solutions to the problem.

This is a great school it has come a long way from what it was years ago both my kids are top of their class I have never had a problem with any of their staff. Also they are now a Leadership Academy

There’s a spirit of collaboration and genuine support here that makes even the hardest days feel manageable and the great days feel unforgettable.Our administration, Mrs. Hernandez and Mr. Bright, leads with vision and heart. They listen, uplift, and consistently advocate for what’s best for our students and staff. Their leadership fosters a culture where every voice matters and every success is celebrated.Sylvia Mendez isn’t just where I work, it’s where I’ve found purpose, connection, and joy. I’m so proud to be part of this amazing school community.

Bringing my grandchildren to this school is the best decision i have made for them academically. Not only do the teachers care about their education, but they are teaching them life situations as well. My grandson has ADD and Autism, but has made tremendous progress while under the care of his teachers. I encourage anyone whose
