Read what parents are saying about Summer Creek Middle SchoolMy kid had bad experience with this school. Negative reviews about low academic level before we entered. I was told by my kid the schoolmates were mostly not learning in several classes. They did other things, not respectful to teachers, too loud talking which avoid real learning and studying. I just encourage my kid to do the best and ignore the negatives. It was so different from where we moved from and I realized our previous school in another State was much better. Then, even worse things happen to my kid. "Bullying" to my kid did lots of hurt. At the early stage I tried to encourage my kid to do the best, but things turn very bad. It never happen to us in previous school. The reprimand system in the school was so random and ineffective. It did not help students improve their behaviors, and things were getting worse. I tried to reach the school official by emails or phone call with no reply, so I went and talked to one. Things got slightly improved, but systemic risks persist. I realize this is not the place to achieve academic excellent, and not even a safe place to stay. So, I instructed my kid to do the best academically, kept a good spirit, and at the end of the semester, I will never allow my kid to go back to this school ever. I would like to point out three major areas the school has failed:1. Unclear purpose and direction: No direction for and to students to achieve academic excellencies, no instructions for students to learn moral modesty. Aimless expectations makes aimless students. These aimless students showed their aimlessness in classrooms. Instead of learning, they do their own things, not listen to and disrespect their teachers.2. No real strategies to manage the classrooms: One teacher send me emails several times mentioning how disrespectful and worse things his students did in class and need parents help. I felt sorry to him but it also showed the teachers in this school need "classroom management training." With unclear purpose comes with lack to strategies to achieve the real goal.3. Failing and Ineffective reprimand system: The purpose of reprimand of disciplinary actions should bring improvement of student behaviors and moral value. But it fails, students were punished with unclear standards with minimal results. Worse thing when the victim is punished and the bullies get away. It encouraged more bullies, unsafe environment, systemic risk daily. Moral education badly needed. Not recommend!
Posted by a parent on 7/6/2023As with any school in the area, is the parents responsibility to stay engaged in the student education, as long as you are present with the student your child will do great, we never had a problem with staff, teachers are always willing to help.
Posted by a parent on 2/23/2023Stay away from this away, it is the worst public school not only in Texas but nationwide as a whole you may ever think of sending your children to. Teachers are very unprofessional, inconsistent, safety and security of students are major problem in this school.
Posted by a parent on 2/22/2023The STEM Academy is amazing! They really have the students thinking outside the box. I went to the STEM showcase last week and was impressed at the ideas students came up with. All of the students had done extensive research and had built a prototype in their maker space. My daughter loves the program, the coordinator, and the teachers. I love the communication, the service aspect (volunteer hours are mandatory), and the fact that my daughter is excited about learning.
Posted by a parent on 5/28/2017It really depends on what classes you are taking at this school. If your child decides to take classes that are not the most advanced (e.g. enrichment classes, non GATE, regular classes) then they are probably getting a bad education. Students in these classes fool around and act like dorks, do not care at all about their education and the education for others, thus resulting in a terrible learning environment. The problem is not the teachers or the staff. I believe they are trying all they can to teach their students. The problem is the students and the parents themselves. Parents do not care for their children/do not teach them respect and maturity, and students for not realizing they should be respectful, that they should care, and for being selfish. IF however your child is taking the adv. classes (e.g. Algebra, Geometry, GATE, Biology) I can assure your child a great education. Most students in these classes are mature and do care for their education. They don't act like half brained selfish zombies. Unfortunately, due to the lower leveled classes being TERRIBLE, I give this 3 stars; not just what I stated is the reason, but there is a huge racial gap in classes.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was very disappointed in the teacher and administration. There is no problem solving . There are laws for children with learning differences but I guess this school does not want to abide by them. This was a very bad experience.Parent Review4y ago - Bess Race Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBEWARE! I’ve been trying to enroll my son for the past three months and you can never, ever get a hold of somebody! If by some sort of miracle you get through to somebody on the phone , you always end up talking to someone that has no idea what’s going on and just makes you play phone tag with other staff members in charge. You leave emails.. you leave voicemails.. and no one ever get back to you..EVER SADLY, this is our home school, so my son is automatically assigned here.My biggest problem with us is the fact that you can only imagine if something were to go wrong while your child is at school, nothing will ever get communicated back to you.Horrible way to run a school with young children, being at the hands of people that cannot communicate to parents.Parent Review7mo ago - Jackie Carden Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son entered the school in Oct 2022 as our family moved here from another State, California. Quickly, my son found a good friend who is my next door neighbor. I have good relationship with my neighbor since then. The teachers are friendly in this school. There are many activities from this school to engage parents and kids like science night, and game night. When entering the school, I found the banner said, "Be respectful." This is such a great banner to promote positive and right spirit of the school. As public school, it must accept school from all background, yet, educate them and direct them to a "positive" and "respectful" spirit is the key to success. Learning won't take place unless students respect their teachers and respect each other; be well with each other, helping and support each other. In late 2022 and early 2023, I met a pastor, Dr. White, as the school door in the morning. He had a grand-daughter studied in Dallas Park. He smile and greet every student entering the school. It was such an warm and loving spirit every time I met Dr. White. It turns out my Son was doing well in this school. He earned many awards at the end of the school year. Later he entered GATE (Gifted) program, and national honor society. I give credit for Dallas Park as this school can spot out the best student and put them into academic excellent program, so they can excel in their learning. It is true that my son told me not all the students turn in their homework, but the teachers tried hard to create the best learning environment for their students. I truly hope that Dallas Park will keep up the good work as this community need this kind of good school. Bravo.Dallas Park is a very good community school. I do recommend students to come her and receive their education here.Parent Review2mo ago - J A Hargrave Elementary School
