Sanders Elementary School

My son has been attending this school since Kindergarten and he is now in the 5th grade. We had a bit of a rough patch in the beginning, getting our son the assistance he needed, but it was sorted out quickly and we have loved our experience ever since. A few years back Mrs. Stevie-Rae Garcia was promoted from assistance principal to principal, and our family absolutely adores her. She is the backbone of Kostoryz Elementary and I am extremely thankful for all that she has done.

After several incidents ranging from threats, hitting, and now escalating to terrifying 2 classrooms as desks and chairs were hurled at students, the new child at fault is promptly returned to the classroom the next morning. Many of us afraid for our children's safety. We were never to this day contacted by the teacher. We had to take it upon ourselves to ask why, to request a classroom change which was immediately denied and shown the door with transfer to another campus as our only option. We live in front of this school and work hard to pay to be in it's boundaries. Our child is a straight A long term student they are proud to parade on social media but will not protect in real time. Many families were afraid and didn't send their children the next day. If you question the new principals tactics plan to be met with a very veiled response. The child at fault is being used to garner resources for the school. While our child who's never been in trouble a day in her life is now being used as a warning to other parents of what happens when you question this new leadership. We were shown the door basically and quietly and are now without a school for a very good student. Being forced into hiring an attorney to protect our child who did absolutely nothing wrong, has excellent scores but also become terrified of this violent child for good reasons. Her now education loss is because we asked for a classroom change the day after this incident that a hurled desk missed our student by inches, we had the audacity to ask why was this disruptive child was right back in class, and in just one day we were quietly shoved out. I will say the vice principal is fantastic- as well as several great teachers but they don't override this new principal and failed leadership. Sadly it will take an even worse event or a child being severely injured that they can't so readily hide or shove so easily under a rug to get any type of real time protection for students. Parents with real concerns will be hushed and students will have to go to school afraid. That's the new look for out Tigers

As a teacher I would recommend Dawson ES. If my children were younger, I would send them to this school. The teachers are experienced, involved and understanding. I love teaching at this campus. The staff, students and administration go above and beyond for our students and their families. This diverse campus is truly a family who helps and supports one another to succeed.

As a former student and now parent of YCA students I have seen full circle the impact of Christ focused education and the immense benefits of a school like Yorktown Christian Academy. YCA is truly a special place and the moment you step foot on the campus you can tell. The loving environment and the smiling faces from students, teachers, and staff is so encouraging. It is academically challenging but also helps create a foundation of faith and biblical knowledge which will last a lifetime. As a parent there is a financial sacrifice to private education but I can think of no better or impactful investment for my children than the Kingdom education YCA provides. I’d encourage any family considering private school for their kids to visit YCA and talk with the staff teachers or parents. I know you’ll experience exactly what makes this school so special.

Excellent school! High standards of education. The kids are expected to listen and be respectful. The teachers are very patient and helpful with the kids. I feel like the negative comments center around the kids that lack discipline all around.

This will be the last year my kids attend SST. We’ve been with this school for about 5–6 years, but it has become more of a business than an educational environment. The administration seems to prioritize increasing student enrollment, and therefore profit, over providing a quality education.Most of the teachers are wonderful and genuinely care about their students. Unfortunately, they are placed in a difficult position because the school’s decisions make effective teaching nearly impossible. Having around 35 students in a single classroom with no teacher assistant is a poor decision and reflects badly on how the school is managed.I originally chose SST because I was concerned about CCISD’s ratings, but at this point, I believe CCISD offers a better education than SST. If class size isn’t a concern for you and you’re mainly focused on strong instruction in English, math, and science, then SST might still work. However, the overall quality of teaching is extremely low simply because teachers are overwhelmed by the number of students.Each year, enrollment increases while the quality of education noticeably declines, and it’s clear this is driven by profit rather than student success. This will be our final year at SST, and honestly, we’re not even sure we’ll stay until the end of the school year if things continue to get worse.For anyone reading this as a review of SST, I would not recommend the school. Class sizes keep growing, the quality of education keeps dropping, and I strongly suggest talking with your child often to make sure they’re truly doing okay.
