Jose High Damian Elementary School

This school has been excellent for my son. He has been in the dual language program since kinder and has flourished in both English and Spanish. We speak English only at home, but he is able to communicate with other family members and classmates in Spanish. He even had the confidence to participate in the Spanish spelling bee! He has had great dual language teachers so far. Great communication with the teachers, they are always a text or email away. I also love the school's use of apps to keep parents updated on events. We have never had a problem with a teacher or another student at this school, but if we did I trust the Principal Mr. Barba would take care of it appropriately.

I love this school! My kids are so happy with their teachers. Pre-k teachers are very friendly and take care of all students. PE class is awesome! They have different after school activities, including tennis! My kids love music class. The music teacher has a piano lab and they take lessons at school and they just had a piano recital. Academics are very strong and teachers do their best to excell in all areas. I strongly recommend this school.

We recently moved both of our children from private schools into Jose Damian and we are very happy with our decision. Our children love their teachers and classmates. They are being challenged academically on a daily basis. The PTO has many activities and even hosts an after school sports day for the children every Friday. The teachers, principal, vice principal and all staff members are all very willing to help us as we acclimate to our new school midway through the school year. Jose Damian is an excellent school and deserves 5 stars.

This school is AWFUL! Our kids have lost academic ground since attending this school. The Admin is unfriendly, there is no parental or community atmosphere, and the kids are MEAN!!! We are so disappointed in this school that we are considering homeschooling. My kids have been bullied, had problems with a BAD teacher, and their academics are awful at this school. I do not believe this is an exemplary school. I believe this school cheats to boast such numbers. Terrible!!! I cannot wait to be done with this school.

I think we need a better principle, it is sad when you have to speak to a different staff member to feel acknowledge or to have something get done. I must say I do like the teachers except the Music teacher, every encounter I have ever had with her she has been very rude.
