Posted by a parent on 6/10/20217.8/10, very fun and tolerate teachers so that is good. Though some students think they are better than others and don't want to learn, so not the teachers fault. Traffic sucks....

Posted by a community member on 11/25/2019Being a parent of students at this school is stressful at best. There are a few gems in the pool of staff and I do appreciate that. The academics are rigorous but in this day and age, I feel we need to focus more on the quality of the student's experience, helping them grow and develop with positive support, communication and to develop self-love. This school relies heavily on putting down those that struggle and consequences for those that may have difficulties at times with impulse control. I wish they would take the time to engage with students more and use mistakes as opportunities for growth. They waste these chances. Our school has an epidemic of anxiety, depression, substance use, eating disorders and competitiveness. I feel that if my children come out okay from this school then I have absolutely done something right at home and they will be okay in the real world.
Posted by a parent on 8/18/2019My daughter is a rising Junior. Our first two years at Vandegrift have been incredible. Her teachers have been outstanding - supportive and invested in her learning. I have a second daughter who will be starting Vandegrift this fall and I am thrilled for her and all the upcoming opportunities. We have two younger children and will stay zoned for Vandegrift because of our positive experience.

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageConcerns persist about the safety of the playground at Green Belt, where children often play amidst potential hazards. The area is known for its population of poisonous snakes and lizards, posing a significant risk to young adventurers. Compounding the issue, supervision by teachers is notably lax, leaving children vulnerable to accidents and injury.Incidents are frequently addressed re-actively, with emergency services summoned only after an unfortunate event occurs. The playground itself is strewn with stones and rocks, creating a hazardous environment where children are left unsupervised. This lack of oversight increases the likelihood of accidents, whether through falls or the actions of other students, who may inadvertently or intentionally cause harm.Despite repeated concerns raised by parents and caregivers, the school remains steadfast in its reluctance to amend its policies regarding supervision and playground safety. While advocating for independence in play, the current setup jeopardizes the well-being of young learners, potentially resulting in severe injuries such as eye damage from errant stones or getting bitten by a poisonous snake. Since my kids have been in the school I have heard of 4-5 serious stone injuries.Addressing these safety concerns is paramount to ensuring a secure and nurturing environment for all students. Proactive measures, including enhanced supervision and the removal of hazardous materials from the playground, are essential steps towards safeguarding the well-being of our children.Other Review3w ago - Grandview Hills Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved into the District from out of State and were nervous that our son would have a hard time fitting in and making new friends. A year and a half in we are very happy with our sons social and educational development. The staff is mindful and caring. They do not promote nor tolerate bullying. The teachers all seem to go above and beyond to both challenge the individual students and keep the parents engaged and informed. We absolutely loved principal Britt and were sad to see her leave, but we haven't seen any drop off in our son's behavior or academics. He is always happy to go to school and offers no complaints when he gets home.Parent Review4mo ago - Primrose School Of Four Points
