Read what parents are saying about Joe Lee Johnson Elementary SchoolJoe Lee Johnson is undoubtedly the worst school I’ve ever encountered. They put students at risk with predatory staff and ignored multiple complaints by parents. When we went above the principal to have our concerns addressed they singled out our daughter with petty retaliations like excluding her from her class photo. She’s four years old. I’m counting the days till she’s no longer a student there.
Posted by a parent on 4/1/2024This is the worst school I have worked in. We are failing teachers, and we are failing students. JLJ should be ashamed.
Posted by a teacher on 3/12/2024Joe Lee Johnson Elementary was fantastic for the first several years it was open. It has continued to go downhill since. There seems to be pervasive and systemic issues that remain unresolved and continue to grow. While many of the educators do genuinely care about the students, the school cannot seem retain quality teachers and is continually understaffed. Children are moved between classes far too often and the administration seemingly does not keep track of how often individual children are moved, resulting in a severe imbalance of those affected. They also have a massive problem addressing behavioral issues, whether a result of poor administration, understaffing, poorly defined processes, or an inability or unwillingness to follow processes in unknown. There are many children at this school who obviously need special attention and are not receiving it. There are also many children at this school who downright should have been removed after multiple disruptive offenses, yet for whatever reasons they remain, and take away from all the children there to learn.
Posted by a parent on 9/22/2023JLJ used to be a good school. Principal Unger has let things run amok. Kids painting nails in class, coming and going from class as they feel, throwing things, fist fights, and lots of yelling. There are no repercussions so kids don't care. If your kid likes chaos, this is the school for them. This can be a good school again, but they need new leadership.
Posted by a parent on 5/10/2023If your child has the slightest bit of behavioral issues don't send them here they will be written off. My son went from being an A student to a C student. They're too busy coddling the kids and not preparing them for the real world that they are tearing other kids down in the process.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been at Windermere for three years starting in 2021. The new principal, Ms. McAllister, has impressed me with her leadership and engagement. I will say that many teachers seem a little burned out after the pandemic but who can blame them. I feel like the school and district and making small gains each year.Parent Review5mo ago - Springhill Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI regret to express my disappointment with the assistant principal Elizabeth Schuster's parent communications skills. In a recent phone conversation, I encountered a disheartening incident where Elizabeth Schuster spoke to me disrespectfully and abruptly hung up in my face. As a parent, I believe that open and respectful communication is fundamental for a constructive parent-school relationship. The extremely dismissive tone used during our conversation was unprofessional and left me feeling undervalued and disrespected. It is disheartening to encounter such behavior from an individual in a leadership position, especially in an education setting where collaboration between parents and staff is crucial. As a well seasoned preschool owner, I strongly believe that fostering a positive and respectful environment is essential for the well-being of both students and parents. I sincerely hope that there will be a commitment to improving her communication skills to ensure that interactions between school administrators and parents are characterized by professionalism and courtesy. It is my wish that this feedback contributes to fostering a more positive and respective school atmosphere for everyone involved.Parent Review4mo ago - Renaissance Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI should have listened to several other parents that either pulled their kids out of Renaissance or selected a different school. We lasted two months. Here are the things I wish I knew before enrolling.PROS:Lovely kindergarten teachers;Additional Arabic classes;CONS:Condescending and ignoring attitude towards parents. No flexibility offered for working parents - you must be a stay at home parent for your kids to attend this school (i.e. no online parent teacher conferences - they are mandatory and it's only on-site and only at the "commanded" time). Even though before we enrolled, our initial meeting was online and the site visit was conducted on Saturday. That's not how it is after the official enrollment.Inconvenient drop off and pick up arrangement.Serious safety concerns during the pick up and drop off.Weak (standard?) kindergarten program, boring for children that went to school before or studied with parents at home. Quality of education totally depends on parent's/child's work at home. No one cares if your child learned or memorized anything. It's all on parents, with loads of repetitive homework. Lots of "Print outs". And, an interesting grading system.Somehow girls and boys are arranged to sit next to each other, for example one girl and three boys at one combined desk.Yearly materials bought by parents (in addition to fees) are not returned upon withdrawal. None of the books were returned. Not even our change clothes. Non-existent onboarding, "welcome" emails and instructions for new or first time students. Once you pay, go figure everything out on your own.Shortage of staff (looks like it's a statewide problem).Forceful parent "volunteering". Not sure who would want to volunteer after this attitude. And finally - cold, exclusive, inconsiderate, indifferent "community".Parent Review1y ago
