Ortiz Elementary School

Our child attended ACS Pre-k through 2nd grade. We are not religious but thought the education would be better than public school. Our child did well but when they began 2nd grade things changed. ACS and the teachers started treating them differently. We started to talk to other parents who had the same problem. The school suggested that our child be tested for Dyslexia, hearing problems, and other learning disabilities. They did not bring this to our attention until our very last teacher conference of 2nd grade. We were worried to say the least. We had them tested and discovered that they have no learning disabilities whatsoever. This was very concerning for us. We have since left ACS and now send our child to public school. The teachers and staff at public school adore them and they are at the top of their class. I do not know why ACS chose to suggest these things to us. I can only guess that us not being religious may have scaried them. They fill the students with faith based fear that causes unnecessary worries. Another thing to mention is our concern for safety. They have a fence around the school but leave the gate open during school hours. Please be cautious when looking at this school for your child.
