My experience with Hancock County High School as a graduate is mediocre at best. I noticed that, compared to other schools I've experienced, things are way too easy, and don't effectively prepare you for any higher education. I walked away from the school knowing very little, and it's because of how some of the teachers don't exactly teach very well, plus good teachers get swapped out frequently with poor quality ones, and it's generally frustrating. I also tend to see a lot of students getting picked on or bothered and hardly anything, if anything, is done about it. I have some experience with getting bullied definitely, and things barely changed from starting out in kindergarten to leaving as a high school senior. My heart goes out to any out-of-state/county students that are now attending Hancock County. Your parents really should have checked twice.

I went to this school, and honestly, I was one of the only students who ended up going to a 4-year university. Almost all of the teachers there either don't teach at all, or produce very poor educational quality. There are two or three who try really hard, but the reality is that the school board and superintendent make it really hard to make any progress at all. There were many cases of teachers simply passing students on "good looks" or apathy. My favorite was the teacher who told his whole class to pick their own grade. Ridiculous.

I am a former Hancock County Highschool Student. I attended the county school for all 4 years of my highschool career and I can say that, personally, this school did not prepare me for my future college career. There are a few wonderful teachers in the school but the majority are mediocre at best. The county is extremely disadvantaged so this may have a lot to do with the poor education. Much of the staff are very unprofessional in their dress and classroom conduct. I had some teachers that would come to teach classes in sweatpants and I have also heard teachers make sexist statements and blatant racial slurs in the classroom. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and some remain in their positions because the school is very politically charged from the administration all the way down to the staff. Hopefully, new education standards will force the poor teachers and administrators to quit or give them incentive to conduct themselves in a proffesional manner. Sadly, those who live in the county have no other school choice, but I would never recommend that anyone send their children to Hancock County High School. .
