Read what parents are saying about St Dominic SchoolSaint Dominic is the best kept secret in Kingsport! They have small class sizes and get the special attention that children need. The students learn manners, respect, and faith. Teachers are able to cater to gifted and children that need more specific focus in reading or math. The staff is wonderful and caring. Saint Dominic school is outstanding in core academics as well as the arts. They focus on the child's growth as a person and not just a test score. The kids are ready for middle school academically as well as socially. They now have fantastic after school LEGO club which will feed into robotic lessons, Daisy scouts, running club, French club, before and after school care, and summer programs. The principle, Mr. Davis will give personal tours and is wonderful to work with. The PreK program is on a waiting list because of the wonderful teachers. The teachers have found special talents in my children that would have been overlooked elsewhere. Saint Dominic's is faith based, but welcoming to all families. We have wonderful families from diverse backgrounds. The school is a special place for families to socialize, pray together, and support one another.
Posted by a parent on 4/21/2017St. Dominic's Catholic School in Kingsport, TN has exceeded all my expectations for what a school can be. The faculty and staff are committed to developing the whole child, and their mantra that the children will be known and loved is seen on a daily basis. While this is a parochial school, it attracts families of various faiths, and the level of involvement from the parents speaks to their commitment and satisfaction with the school. I have nothing against public schools, but the fact that my children are getting an exceptional education with plenty of exposure to the arts, while learning to live faithfully and treat others in a faith-based manner is the reason every parent should strongly consider this school. Talk to the principal, talk to the faculty, and talk to the parents. You won't be disappointed by what you find!
Posted by a parent on 1/12/2016Educational background, patience with their students, yet firm. They go the extra mile like the olden days when Teachers were Teachers, real teachers.
Posted by a community member on 8/24/2015My son has flourished from his experience at St. Dominic's in ways I never imagined. He finished kindergarten academically engaged, spiritually nourished (we are not Catholic) and eager to return to first grade! This program has the rare ability to foster individual overall excellence with teachers and ancillary staff steadfast in their devotion to inspire personal achievements. As Kingsport's public schools are known to be above average, I was hesitant to spend the money for a private school. I am so proud to be part of the St. Dominic school family. It was the best decision I have ever made for my child.
Posted by a parent on 6/1/2014This school is amazing, great program and excellent staff. My daughter love this school, she attended to the preschool program and she is now in elementary school. St Dominic school is more than a school, all the kids know each other and they grow together as a family.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers are wonderful, but unfortunately the administration isn't. With all the discipline problems in the upper grades, I had to remove both of my children. Most students at Jackson are very nice, but it was obvious that the associate principal was unwilling to take care of disrespect towards teachers and fellow students. Conversations with teachers whom were in my opinion, great women, basically ended in the fact their hands were tied and that the associate principal was rude and unapproachable.Parent Review9y ago - Johnson Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy school is a very kind entity with parents kept in mind just as much as the children they teach. This is the first year my 3rd grader has attended Johnson Elementary and I find a great ease of mind in her transition. The leadership of the staff, working it's way down from the principal to the teachers, is with good attitude and confident attitudes which makes for a comfortable presentation. I feel welcome to come into the school when I know that issues can be dealt with in a positive manner without feeling guilty that issues occurred. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers here care, but are seriously hampered by ineffective administration. Bullying runs rampet and administors will not address it or even fill out required reports mandated by state law. They don't want to acknowledge bullying and will blame the victim if pressed. The worst experience from a school I've ever encountered. Unfortunately this is the school we are zoned for. My advice look outside this school zone if buying in Kingsport.Parent Review4mo ago - Tri-Cities Christian School
