Posted by a community member on 6/26/2020Good district but this is the poorest middle school in the district. They have the oldest building out of all spartanburg schools. The principals are horrible! Ive had one tell me if your child is in a fight but didnt hit first they still get suspended. So our legal right to protect ourselves as we are being attacked is not valid in this school obviously. Fights EVERY day at this school. My friends son was told by the chorus teacher that she had to make sure his performance uniform was perfect because he wasnt gonna embarras her at the christmas program. This mother who isnt christain bought an $80 outfit. The teacher told the kids if they didnt get their outfit in time they were getting F's. Then made some boys spend their lunch trying on the outfit for her so she could "approve the fit". This teacher started with 20 kids and ended up with 7. Lets just say shes no longer there! My child had a substitute take her phone before allowing her to go to the bathroom and then stil checking her pockets with his hands for some reason. Some good teachers. Some are horrible! just bc law says you can, dont drop your child off even 1 min early. They will get detention. Good coaches & teams
Posted by a parent on 11/4/2014Fair Forest Middle School, Our family moved from Long Island, NY and my daughter Danisha Walker started school this August, 2013, and she is very shy and don't talk much at all. Well her teachers brung my daughter out and far more learning experience she is doing great. I never thought my daughter will ever speak out. In NY, she stay in a shell would'nt say nothing until the middle end of the school year. Her teacher Mrs. Williams and others brung my daughter to life where as she was getting help in NY but it took her 2 yrs to see she needed help in certain subjects. She has got help the first week in school and I owe it all to Fair Forest Middle School. Most of all the teachers knows what they student needs and they treat them as an individual. Thanks The Walker Family.
Posted by a parent on 9/26/2013Fairforest Middle School. I could not have asked for a better first year of middle school for my child. The teachers are excellent and genuinely care for their students. I love this school!!

They have no concept of SAFETY for children that are put in their care from the time they step on their property til the time they step off it! We recently just moved to SC from out of state and thought this would be a good fit but my children defiantly will NOT be returning to Arcadia next school year. He is retiring and should because he doesn't care about ALL the students only certain ones. However when I called the Supertindent he was very apologetic and showed sympathy something the principal should have done. My youngest child attends another school in district 6 and I love that school along with the staff and principal. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS SCHOOL if you care about how they are treated and there safety.Parent Review9y ago - Jesse S. Bobo Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNot at all impressed with our experience with this school. I would not recommend it at all. The front lobby is a HUGE safety concern!!! You are rung into the main lobby but then you have access to the main hallway to the left and right. At busy times the front office would not even notice you didnt come through the lobby and into the double doors to the secretary's desk. I feel like this is a bad situation waiting to happen. The front office staff is very unfriendly and loomed uninterested in helping me, barely acknowledge me and look at me as if to say "what do you need??" My child only attended a short amount of time, thank goodness! They did not challenge him what so ever. He was very bored. He came home daily with many, many worksheets, the same type of worksheet daily just a different letter or number being learned. He came home many, many days with randomly cut up and doodled on notebook paper, saying the teachers just told him to sit and doodle/cut up and glue notebook paper together. We had an issue where my child was hit by another student and i was not notified properly upon it occurring. I had to go out of my way to get more info into the situation. The teacher was very upset about this and took it out on my child, marking him red for behavior every day after i spoke with the principal about the situation when he had been marked green for behavior every day for 4 months.Parent Review1y ago - Oakbrook Preparatory School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOakbrook Prep was a good school with a focus on a Christian worldview; however, the current administration has run the school into the ground. The Head of School is extremely unqualified for the position; he is not an educator and he is disinterested in the academic operations of the school. He sits in his office daily with little meaningful interaction with staff. He shows up late and leaves early, leaving staff to scramble in his absence. He is a figurehead while other Deans essentially attempt to run the school. Kids routinely skip classes to hang out with friends and administrators. Some teachers are placed in classes they are unqualified to teach with no administrative concern for student success. The Oakbrook "culture" has been a culture sustained by intimidation and fear. While most teachers are highly qualified, the Christian worldview of the school is not promoted heavily. Games are played in lieu of chapel services, and kids are mostly entertained in chapel rather than meeting the Word of God. Bullying, racism, and other forms of discrimination have been rampant within the school; the administration willfully ignores it. If you desire a Christian education, there are better options.Other Review5mo ago - St James Methodist Kindergarten

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended this school last year. He gained so much independence and such a greater interest in learning! I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is searching for an environment that truly focuses on developing the whole child.Other Review3mo ago - Westgate Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have three children that attend Westgate Christian School (high school, middle, and elementary). Our children have attended since pre-K. We have always been very pleased with the school and their dedication to the children. The school continues to make enhancements to the curriculum and the physical building and grounds. It is a great school that is very welcoming. With that being said, they are a conservative Christian school that may not be right for everyone.Parent Review1mo ago - Legacy Christian School
