Posted by a parent on 6/4/2025Christ Centered. Other negative reviews do not fit my experience at all. There is no a perfect school anywhere, and this one is worth a good look if you are interested in preparing your student for college, and engaging them in Catholic Education.

Many students should be in remedial reading programs, but they are mixed in with the College Prep classes. There is no book room. Students have to buy books that are esse

The teachers are nice and their teaching strategies and rules are very good. The students there are really respectful and I didn't see any bullying there. I wish I could be at this school again because everyone was just friendly and I'm so glad I made so many good memories there! NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy wife, daughter, and I came to Columbia in 2018 due to military orders – I was stationed at Fort Jackson. My daughter was about to start Pre-k 4, and we wanted to find a good school for the 2 years we would be here. We not only found the 2-year school in St John Neumann…we found her school for the next 7 years and beyond. Instead of moving away in retirement, we stayed right here because of SJN. The culture of the school is so welcoming, kind, nurturing. It runs from the Principal and Ass’t Principal through the admin staff and to the teachers. My daughter is challenged academically…the teachers teach in a way that makes learning fun and productive. There’s no “teaching to the test” at SJN…yet, the school outperforms other schools in MAP testing. If you’re a military family, you won’t find better support for you and your kids at any other school in Columbia.Parent Review1y ago
