When my son began Cunningham the School was a mess and out of control with students on a road of Failure as they moved thru and onto Slater Jr. Parent Involvement was at a all time low or Not happening and Teachers Struggling with a I don't care attitude from students. The School Building look like

I know this isn't the teachers fault, but the curriculum wasn't very good. I remember some of the things I learned were very repetitive

Committed educators and staff, spirit and joy, community, and rigorous challenge in the classroom. Our child's class sizes have not been more than 17. Wish people wouldn't overlook their neighborhood schools and lean into them so they can achieve their full potential. NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is AMAZING! It is a hidden gem. Very close to the East Side/Oak Hill area. The teachers are fantastic and the school felt like family to us. We were so sad to leave! My children attended preschool and kindergarten here and left well prepared for first grade. We just wish they had a full elementary school so we wouldn't have to leave!One of the things we loved most about the school was all of families from different backgrounds and cultures. They hold a multicultural potluck each year which is so much fun! You cannot go wrong with Smithfield Ave. It is a nurturing environment that will challenge your child to grow emotionally and educationally.
