Between two kids, we have spent the last four years at Aquidneck Elementary and it is the BEST school in Middletown. It is SO sad that this school is going to be gone in a couple years because the administration and all the teachers are truly focused on what is in the students’ best interest. The teachers have become family- they go out of their way to attend the kids’ extracurricular activities outside of school!!! Where have you ever seen this happen?!? The kids at this school are all the kindest. We will truly miss this school since our daughter is aging out (it is only Prek to third grade). Great friends were made at this school. The curriculum is decent- the teachers assign just the right amount of homework and they make learning fun in the classroom.

It IS A Great School That I am In

Nothing but positives things to say about SMCDS. We have been here for 5 years at the point and would never think about sending our children anywhere else. It is their second home.

It’s hard to adequately express what the Pennfield experience has been for my children. In short, it was incredible. Our kids flourished at Pennfield and were beyond prepared for boarding school. Pennfield introduces public speaking from preschool and expands year by year until the 6th-8th grade students confidently make a speech each year in front of the entire school community. The Spanish program is extraordinary- both of my kids placed into honors Spanish 2 freshman year. Science is equally fantastic and both kids placed into honors biology freshman year. My daughter excels as an artist and was able to develop her craft with the constant support and encouragement of the most amazing art teacher. Art, music, and theater are a huge part of life at Pennfield. So many fun clubs. Outstanding faculty! And a community that feels more like family. We are forever grateful for our time at Pennfield and the foundation it provided for our children.

In January 2021 I yanked my children out of Pell which they despised. I transferred them to another public school system which involves 100 miles of driving per day and $6k/yr/kid. It is well worth the time and money as the kids literally run from the car to be the first in line every morning.why would a parent want to send their child to Pell which has one of the worst ratings in Rhode Island
