Mowrey El School

My son has been going to Mowery for two years now and let me tell you… he’s now an open book to learning. He was never this opened to learning at his old school in Shippensburg he went from loving school to hating school within a few days because he was being bullied and teachers didn’t pay attention to him. Here at Mowery they help him understand in fun ways that he loves. My son has speech problems and I have seen much improvement over the two years. He also can’t wait to go to school in the morning. His brother goes with him and he also loves it too. I’m satisfied when I know my kids are safe and they’re happy to be in an educational environment.

Mowrey Elementary is such a wonderful school! The values they set forth in the children are amazing. They have "Kids of Character" each month for each classroom. Not all kids are born with a "good moral character" but this program instills in each child that they have the ability to be a good Kid of Character. This really gives the students something to look forward to. The student gets their picture taken and it hangs outside their classroom for the whole school to see. It's a good morale boosting excercise. Wherever you look in the school, you'll see the Pillars of Character......lunchroom, hallways, etc. They also have a wonderful set of teachers who genuinely love what they do. You can tell the difference between teachers who just do it for the money and teachers who actually care about their students. Mowrey loves their students! There is so much parent involvement and I'm proud to say that. Too many schools do not allow the parents to help but Mowrey goes above and beyond this. Everywhere you look, there are parents and children. If we all work together, schools can be a positive influence just as Mowrey has shown to my kids. I'm glad to be a part of it!

Mowrey is a nice little country school with a great team of teachers. A few have been there since I went to school there 30 years ago. I feel the teachers make it the best elementary school in Waynesboro area. However, I have found the principal to be abrupt and uncourteous when dealing with her.
