Laurel Highlands Senior High School

My daughter has thrived at Montessori. She has learned to write her full name, early reading, math to 100, developed artistic talent and imagination, and land formations just to name a few of the amazing things she has experienced. The school is incredible, as is Ms. Murphy - the primary teacher at this school. Due to the use of senses to teach, children explore their world's through touch, sound, smell, and experimenting. They learn manners and discipline in polite society. I would recommend that any preschool child have the wonderful Montessori experience. Due the unique teaching methods, my child has learned so much so fast. As an option, my daughter is also learning foreign language! WONDERFUL SCHOOL

Very disappointed. Some here do not represent a true Christian Spirit in there behavior and actions. My child has suffered greatly from his treatment at this school. I am still trying to dry the tears my child continues to shed over not being allowed to finish even the semester with his class of 5 kids! My child was making all A's but because he needed a little extra help with some work, and was cast out. My family did not get a chance to hire a tutor, an aide, or anything. We had absolutely NO warning the school was even considering kicking our child out. At no time did the staff here try and work as a team with the parents. We were given no warning that our child would be kicked out. The teacher had plenty of opportunities to discuss any concerns with us but never did. She always said how great he was doing and that he was a pleasure to have in class, and his report card reflected the same. Then one morning, we show up and are told in front of our child, that he is no longer welcome. No consideration for the child's feelings at all by having a meeting like that in front of him. No child should experience rejection like that, especially an early elementary student that is not old enough to comprehend the actions of adults. At least if we had been told not to bring our child to the meeting, I could have told him we couldn't afford to pay for it, or that the school closed, or something. We could have as parents, at least been given the curtesy to figure out some white lie to tell him at home afterwards, so we would not be dealing with our child feeling totally rejected and inadequate. The compassionate Christian thing to do would have been to at least let us bring our child through the end of the semester since he was present in the room to hear he could not come anymore. Now I have to try to explain why he can no longer go on the pumpkin patch field trip next week, & why he can't go to the holiday parties he was greatly looking forward to enjoying with the other 5 kids. Me and my husband are truly sickened at the way in which this was handled. This has left a permanent invisible scar on my child that I will never be able to fix. I can't express enough how badly I wish they would have at least let him go to his class for that meeting or told us to leave him at home. My child was crushed after sitting in that meeting.
