Read what parents are saying about State College Area High SchoolState College Area School District is a joke. Teachers show extreme favoritism to the students and constantly deny other kids opportunities to thrive. They have been investigated by the Pa Department of Education for not meeting the needs of gifted children and have been found non compliant several times. If you happen to be in the inner circle with the teachers your child will have a great experience, but if you're anybody else, be prepared to be denied opportunities, communication, support or anything else your child may need. Please reconsider moving into this toxic environment.
Posted by a parent on 4/24/2022We moved into the SCASD school district from out-of-state, and are extremely pleased with the quality of State College Area High School. The curriculum is challenging and there are many, many opportunities to be engaged including theater, music, sports and extracurricular clubs. The connection to the university provides opportunities far beyond what a typical high school offers. Overall the students have a voice and feel connected to the school and community. Also, the school building itself is extraordinary - more like a community college!
Posted by a parent on 1/6/2021I regret moving my kids into this school district. The time change for the start of the day is something that should not have happened. Sometimes these kids have hours of homework and since the middle schools do not give out a lot the ninth graders are unprepared for this. Add in sports and job so these kids will be up even later doing homework so a half hour in the morning is nothing but ignorance of the school board and superintendent.
Posted by a parent on 4/21/2018The vast amount of programming opportunities is outstanding. The career and technical center is integrated into the school (e.g. - faculty includes a physical therapist, electrical engineer, agriculture professional, registered nurses, CISCO certified instructors, etc.).
Posted by a parent on 2/5/2018Well funded district with excellent schools. Community very involved and consulted regarding future plans for schools in district.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have taught in many schools, and have always thought this is where I would want my own children. Now I have my children in Friends School and could not be happier with their social and academic experiences there. There are many schools is our area striving to achieve goals that have been long established realities at Friends School. They are far beyond the curve in what truly matters for the long term cognitive and emotional development of children. I would encourage anyone interested to visit, even if you are not sure it is a possibility. Your family will be met with compassion and curiosity by the wonderful folks at Friends School.Parent Review6y ago - Our Children's Center

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI cannot tell you in words how wonderful this school has been for my daughter...but I will try! The teachers are excellent. The school director is wonderful. They do a great job of teaching the children about how to be conscience of others and the community. The teachers are loving and kind and go above and beyond! There are plenty of opportunities for "extras" like music, art, Spanish, and more. Academically, they are teaching my daughter the necessities for kindergarten. I have no doubt she will be prepared for next year. There are frequent parent/family gatherings and teachers do a great job of keeping parents informed. I am so glad we found this preschool for my daughter. It was just what she needed. The absolute only downfall I have found is that it is a little pricey. But I suppose the old saying is true...you get what you pay for! Definitely worth it!!Parent Review12y ago
