This school needs to be closed down it’s not safe for the kids
Posted by a parent on 1/23/2026Hi I’m a student currently at Tilden middle school in the 7 th grade and I really don’t recommend this school it’s way to violent and the students. Talk back to the teachers and everything they run the halls they walk out the class with out permission students are constantly getting picked on there

The school should be a safe place for everyone but sometimes it doesn’t feel like that, all I have to say is that I hope our students government can help with this. In my last year here there were fights almost EVERY day which prevented us for having an average learning experience. The kids are disrespectful, teachers are lazy with their jobs, and if you present a solution it most likely will get ignored.
Posted by a community member on 12/19/2023I wouldn’t recommend this school because most of the teachers can’t teach,control their classes, or care about their students education. Also there has been a lot of fights this school year and one time there was 3 fights in one day.

Our three daughters have been at PMCS through its various stages, including a period of transition a few years ago. I'm happy to say the last couple years have been truly amazing, with such talented, dedicated and creative administration and teachers and staff who pay close attention to every student, valuing each as an individual and expecting every child to succeed. Even during the rough period our kids had extraordinary teachers -- couldn't have asked for better. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended this school from Kindergarten to 4th grade. By far the best school in Philadelphia. I enjoyed coming to school everyday and was very grateful of the staff at the school because they definitely made school fun to attend. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter is a kindergartner at Patterson . Last week someone posed as her grandfather trying to pick her up . Although they didn't allow her to go with the person , I WAS NOT NOTIFIED !!! My child's daycare told me about the situation since they're the ones that pick her up from school ! The following day I went to the office for information and the lady BARBERA as well as The principle basically said they couldn't do anything ! She couldn't remember not one little detail about the person that allegedly claimed they were her grandfather, not what they looked like , the name on their id since she claimed they have her The id to look at NOTHING ! They simply shrugged they're shoulders at me as if I was overreacting ! This was an attempted abduction !! I am currently seeking higher authorities because I WILL NOT LET THIS GO !!
