Read what parents are saying about Greenfield Albert M SchoolThis is a wonderful school with dedicated administrators and teacher so who give their students an A+ education. The school is the cornerstone of the community with many families walking to campus each morning. The school yard is occupied with students and community members from the last bell until dusk. We feel incredibly fortunate to have Greenfield as part of our children’s (and our) lives.
Posted by a parent on 12/12/2023We have two bright kids who are polar opposites and both of them have thrived at Greenfield. The principal manages a tight ship and has the full support of his staff. There are strong disciplinary policies with extra structure in the middle school. Teachers are simply outstanding dynamos. Kids are from many different walks of life and parent community is strong. Fundraising covers enrichment experiences in every grade (such as history hunters field trip series, dance and theater residencies, Arabic drumming), extra nice facilities (such as new playgrounds, sound system for auditorium, murals within school), after school activities (such as chess, coding club, choir, plays, sports), and innovative start ups (such as recent launch of middle school STEM program with teacher, equipped room, and robotics). I could not give Greenfield a higher recommendation.
Posted by a parent on 12/12/2023We’ve had both our kids here since Kindergarten, for 6 years. As background, I teach at a University, am a person of color, and am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to education. Greenfield is excellent as a base. The principal is a real gem, he’s present, he addresses concerns, and is courageous. Many of the teachers are amazing, but some are average and some are below average. My younger son was bullied for a year, but the principal and psychologist at the school addressed it quickly. The community is amazing. It’s diverse, and my kids and our family never felt any discrimination at all. I really enjoy hanging around the playground after drop off - lots of people to chat with. You and your kids will be happy here. The standard of education is just ok. Again I did say I was a perfectionist on this. But for a public school in the city, it’s real good. Teachers are open to challenging the kids more - but I had to ask them to. I don’t hold this against the school - it’s a system issue. But yeah - we are very grateful for everything greenfield has provided our family.
Posted by a parent on 1/20/2023We transferred our son from a CC private school to Greenfield as we felt the school did not provide the learning environment my son needed to thrive. While searching a new school there was always a buzz about Greenfield, the rigorous academic environment, it’s devoted stellar teachers and the hands on principal. Yes This school is different, is a public school thats ‘privately run.’ The parents assoc is on the ball and the kids are learning and happy. I can’t ask for more.
Posted by a parent on 1/7/2023Couldn’t last a half a semester. Unless your child starts here beginning in kindergarten (principals words), chances are your child will not succeed. Not welcoming to outsiders, bullying is rampant. No kind of disciplinary policy. There protocol is kids apologize to each other in front of the principal and keep it moving. No detentions, indoor suspensions, no repercussions to unwanted behavior. Teachers have no backbone. If your kid came out the womb a perfect university student, they will excel. God be with you if you are considering this school.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTeachers are paid extremely low but expected to work extra hours. HOS is not open to staff/faculty concerns. Great environment for the children and families because the teachers care a lot and go above and beyond, despite the poverty salary. I do not recommend this school because teachers are not paid what they are worth.Teacher Review1y ago - St. Charles Borromeo

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThough I left FSS in after second grade, my experience up until that point was far from superb, and reports from friends still in FSS indicate that it gets worse as the grade levels progress. Though many of the teachers were very kind and supportive, some of them were very inflexibale and did not teach effectively. Moreover, the actual content of the teaching was of an extremely low level, making it so that when I left for a new school, I was far behind. Even if things remained at this level, I would be currently maleducated at best (if I had stayed there), but the general idea I seem to have gotten is that it gets worse in the higher grade levels. I have little basis with which to elaborate on this specifically, but in general it seems to be an inflated version of all bad aspects present in the lower levels in the Upper School. I would not recommend FSS to anyone, and though it is far from the worst, one would expect better from a private school in central Philadelphia.Other Review3mo ago - The Philadelphia School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have watched our grandchildren thrive at the pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st-grade levels at The Philadelphia School. The teachers and staff that I have met are dedicated, professional, and very positive. I am a product of a parochial school education. I thought that my elementary education was very good. However, experiencing The Philadelphia School has given me a new understanding of academic excellence. And it is not just the academic environment - the entire school is affirming and enthusiastic. It's pervasive. The Head-of-School is also excellent.Parent Review5mo ago - Kids World Christian Education Center
