All of my children attended this school over a 8 yr. period, at no time did I feel my children were singled out, they were all treated with respect and given a great opportunity to learn the curriculum. The school is very community oriented and takes parents suggetions and questions seriously. Great school for education and learning pride in your community, unfortunately the town doesnt have much to offer young adults.

as a queer student at this school i constantly feel out of place. the school has problems with racism, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, and such. so much so that the art teacher created a club for stopping racism in the school at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. me and my friends have been constantly harassed this year. none of the students feel safe talking about how everyone treats them badly because the school isnt a safe space. as a non-binary student, some of the teachers have been wonderful with my pronouns and my name but other teachers ignored everything i told them on the first day. it makes me feel unsafe to even be in class and makes me feel unsafe to even talk to my teachers about school related things. most of the students are horrible too. they constantly say slurs and no one calls them out on it. in school they will say it quietly but once they get even two blocks away from school they are shouting the f slur at each other. i have never felt even remotely safe in this school and most people i know havent either.

I graduated from PAHS about a month ago. Because of the reverent COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to finish my school year virtually. I feel it was a mistake. The school handled the pandemic beautifully. Safety measures and cleaning rituals were put into place, but teachers and students were still encouraged to do normal activities for the school. By the end of the school year, we got the pleasure of having a regular Graduation ceremony. It was a pleasure being a part of the PAHS family. The halls are clean, and you feel safe when you’re there. I would say that the staff is constantly making improvements and making the school a better place for young adults to develop. All three of Pen Argyl’s school have codes of ethics that they follow, safety training for the students to engage in, and rigorous lessons and programs to keep our minds sharp. My best experience with the school district was definitely my time at the high school. It was a very nice place to go everyday. I have to applaud the teachers and staff, because they are truly like no other I’ve ever seen. I was a kid who didn’t have friends, instead I went to school to do my work and learn. It was a breath of fresh air to have teachers who engaged in our lives and talked to us like the young adults we were becoming. I am extremely proud to be a Green Knight alum, it’s a great school, a safe school, and a place where any and every student can come and be accepted as they are. I’m extremely disappointed in the reviewers of the school thus far. I honestly think the negative things that they are saying relate closely to how they themselves handled situations with the school, and not the school’s handling of situations. At the school, we are taught to be inclusive and kind to everyone and I’ve never seen that fail. We have safety training videos and test days in case of emergency or danger. As far as bullying goes, Mr Oakley is a strict disciplinarian and he doesn’t take bullying or any other offense lightly. 98% of our students are good, kind, ethical young adults. However. It seems like the people who wrote those reviews only see the 2% of students who have lost their way. My time at Pen Argyl was nothing but a pleasure and I applaud the students and staff. It was a wonderful place to grow and learn everyday.

I'm a student at Pen Argyl Area High School who is transgender. I have found the students there are abysmally intolerant of my sexual orientation, and while the school helps me deal with the bullies, they are only moderately successful. On the other hand, the academics are great if you're not disadvantaged. Otherwise, the teachers treat you like any other student in terms of learning ability from what I can see. The exception is if it's painfully obvious. Overall, however, the school has been improving over the years.
