Read what parents are saying about New Cumberland Middle SchoolAbsolutely no complaints. This school district is doing a great job despite servicing two townships. No need to send your kids to a private school when the public school system is doing fantastic work!
Posted by a parent on 7/24/2023A great school in the west shore area. Moved my kids from CV school district and have not noticed any difference in quality of their education. They absolutely love their teachers and the staff!

Posted by a community member on 2/22/2019My daughter has been to her share of schools and this is her 5th school in 8 years of schooling. She has now been at NCMS for a full year (2 grades, since she came in the middle of the school year last year) and I have been nothing but impressed. My daughter has gone to a private school, a charter school and public schools in PA and in GA. I was immediately wowed because of the schools boating certification program in the 6th grade, where students are taken to the Redland HS and later to the Pinchot park and if they put the effort in, and pass the test, they receive a certification. Very few schools would take on the extra work required to make such seemingly unnecessary programs work, but our school did. The teachers have been great. I had not one but two teachers reach out to me last year, just to say what a pleasure it has been to have my daughter in their class. That takes time and it was completely unnecessary and I appreciate that. I've also had random emails this year from teachers letting us know what large assignments are due. These are just one-liners but do they do the job, and again, I appreciate it because it takes time and that little extra step that a lot of teachers may not bother to do. We've also been fortunate to get a new Principal and Vice Principal and the kids were excited, my daughter said all the other schools in the area wanted them for their principal. Every day they happily greet the kids in the morning outside and help guide traffic in the rain-sleet-snow. Again, I appreciate that! The students that I have had a pleasure to meet have also been great. They're friendly, down to earth and respectful. I know their parents have raised them well. I've heard other negative stories, especially when we first moved here. I can't tell you how many people warned me about NCMS and how many parents that I talked to who feared sending their kids here! No doubt there's room for improvement but I believe that the negative stories you hear are the exceptions and not the rule. Take note to who has written all of the previous reviews, they are mostly just kids. I think a little appreciation and positivity can go a long way in regarding one's school so I decided to share my thoughts.
Posted by a parent on 1/23/2018New Cumberland Middle school is a wonderful school that engages the students, parents and community to teach and build character in our youth. The previous Principal did a wonderful job with my daughter and the new Principal and Vice Principal are completely engaged, full of energy, visible EVERY morning and embrace new ideas and technology with the students. Aside from the fact that individuals complain that there isn't any A/C in the school it doesn't hurt our students to help build some character and a little bit of toughness to deal with the outside world. My daughter encountered some bullying issues in 6th grade and it was dealt with effectively and immediately. The group of teachers at the school are top notch and genuinely care and have compassion for the kids. They follow up when the students are sick, offer time during their lunch breaks and call in the evenings if you ask. Overall they are preparing our daughter for high school and doing a wonderful job helping her become a young lady in the process.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnfortunately this is one of the worse school! Not even 3 days after my daughter stated coming to this school she got beaten . One of the 5 girls planned it all out. She grabbed my daughter through her hair from the back and put her on the floor and kicked her . After this incident happened she was taken to the nurse but guess what no one called us. Not the principal Mrs. Loy , the nurse or the teacher. They are very unresponsible .very pathetic of them not to call me or dad to tell us what happened. I do not recommended this school for a child . They need better management. The only nice person is Mrs. Barras the secretary besides that everyone there should be fired they don’t know how to their job!!Parent Review1mo ago - Learning & Sharing

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSchool was okay for several years, the new principal this year has driven it downhill fast. The whole vibe is off, lots of teachers are leaving. Hopefully they will reverse course soon, its a shame to see it go like this. It’s important to the parish and the community.Parent Review11mo ago - St Stephen's Episcopal School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePoor. In the process of trying to work through some issues with our child we were told our child could not come back. Mind you it was here that our child was choked out by another student. If your child is perfect and presents no issues this school will be fine. If your child presents any struggles you will be told the public school would be a better place and they are not equipped to help. I simply do not recommend this school.Parent Review5y ago - Best Friends Day Care Center
